What is Airchef
5
AirChef is a meal preparation service expedited by drone delivery to help busy people plan for weekly meals and save time with consistent and convenient food delivery.
AIRCHEF
Problem statement
Proposed Solution
6
With the ubiquity of on-demand food delivery apps and platforms such as UberEats and Doordash, online food delivery has become a norm in our society in bringing convenience to customers’ doorsteps.
However, frustrations with the unreliability, inconsistency, and limitations of these services still exist. While these services do mitigate the issue of ordering food to their home, it does not fully address the issue of people with scarcity of time and are often busy with work to prepare or plan food for the week or longer term duration.
In order to help customers who desire consistency and convenience in the preparation of their meals so they can stay focused on their work or activities, AirChef helps these customers easily plan the meals for the week at an affordable pricing.
These deliveries are made possible with drones, so customers have more options in specifying the location, day, and time in which they want to have their food delivered. With the efficiency of drones, customers can expect a fast and accurate delivery to their doorsteps better than traditional in-person delivery.
With AirChef, we plan to help regain control of their life and develop a healthier lifestyle by bringing them delightful delicious meals.

In order to learn more about our users, we gathered information to understand the user’s characteristics, aims, & behaviors using various methods such as observation, questionnaire, and interview.
This process involve defining the goals of these observations and listing down list of questions we wanted to learn from the users. From there, the team was able to gather data in a consistent and reliable fashion.

Observations — In restaurant & delivery man
17
Woman collecting 2 orders at once
Her hands are full with the orders as much as holding her phone which seems very inconvenient
In order to understand the usability, pain points & problems of using food delivery services, the team and I sat in local food businesses and observe the context and environment of how each player works.
Below are some of our key observations:
Dominos delivers to wrong address
Customer had to retrieve their order from the wrong address, and delivery man was not able to communicate to customer about correcting the delivery
Man waiting for his order at a pickup station
This customer was waiting for the staff to call his name about order being ready to be collected. The man stayed closed to the pickup point so that he does not miss out on his order

Insights
Using Miro, an online collaborative whiteboard platform, we affinitize the data points we collected from our primary research to identify visual trends and uncover deeper insights that would help us develop solutions.
How we did it
In order to reduce bias, the team themed the observation data within a short time frame. Once we feel that all the themes have been uncovered, with generated insights from each themes

Theming process
Once we have developed all the insights, each team member casted 3 votes on their favorite ones. In the case of a tie, we repeat the voting process with the selected themes while cutting down on the number of votes each person has.’
Conceptualization
In this phase, each insight was translated into a Point of View statement where identified the target audience, their painpoints, and what solutions might help them. From there, we are able to generate assumptions or HMW statements on how we can solve the problems faced by the user.

HMW & POV Statement

We met young adults who are often busy with work, and do not have time to prepare food for the week.
We were amazed that they are willing to skip lunch or not have a full one so they can get back to work asap.
It would change the world if if they do not have worry about preparing or ordering food for the week so they can stay focused on their work or activities
How might we ensure they have meals delivered to them consistently and conveniently for the week or long-term duration?
