Some of the limiting factors in the freshwater biome is salinity, sunlight, temperature ,dissolved oxygen, Fertilizers and pollutants.

Plant Adaptations

  • Are able to survive in excessive amounts of water
  • Long roots to anchor into the soil to keep it in place with wet soil
  • The growth and decay of roots also accumulate more soil
  • Adapt to fluctuations in water levels when there’s rainfall & floods

Animal Adaptations

  • Ability to survive floods
  • Bird’s droppings help fertilize the swamp
  • Because of the good lumber there people come to chop down trees and the animals constantly have to adapt to their homes being possibly destroyed
  • Developed the ability to make warning signs to stop intruders
