A guide through 6th Grade Procedures and Expectations

Morning Procedures

Before entering the room:

  1. Get a drink and use the restroom.
  2. Quietly form two lines outside the classroom

In the classroom:

  1. As you enter, greet the teacher.
  2. Unpack and do not disturb others around you.
  3. Make sure you have: 2 sharpened pencils and last night's homework ready to be checked.
  4. Write down your homework on your agenda. .
  5. Begin on morning work.
  6. The directions for morning work will be in the board in order of how they should be completed.

Lining Up Procedures

Leaving the classroom not for break.

Please notify me where you intend to go.

Grab the appropriate pass. sign the log by the door

If you’re going to the nurse, and it’s not an emergency, I have an additional pass I need to give you.

To go outside for snack or lunch:

  • When dismissed, get your snack or lunch from your backpack.
  • Walk down the corridor or lunch tables quietly. You may socialize with your peers once you have reached the eating area.

When returning to the classroom after snack or lunch:

  • Form two lines at the assigned spot.
  • Check your uniform to ensure that your shirt is tucked in and shoes are tied.
  • When re-entering the classroom, come in quietly and get prepared for the next lesson.

Classroom Procedures

  1. You are expected to sit quietly out of respect for those around you.
  2. You should sit up, feet on floor, chairs scooted in, and have a clean work environment.
  3. During instruction time, do not raise your hand until I am finished speaking and ask “What questions do you have?” If you have a question and you are afraid you might forget it, jot your question down on a Post-it.
  4. If you are to speak, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.
  5. When you are called on to speak, you must stand and speak with purpose.
  6. There are five important hand signals in the front of the classroom you can use.
  7. Always try to have a positive attitude, and always choose to be KIND in every situation.

Support Classes

  • The same rules and procedures apply.
  • You should stand up and greet the support teacher and listen to directions.
  • Their time with you is limited, so please use it wisely
  • As always, even if it’s an assignment you do not enjoy, please have a positive attitude.
  • Your supports this year include:
    1. Art
    2. Music
    3. French- Mr. Baeza
    4. PE

All papers must be placed in binder behind appropriate tabs. Not shoved in desk!

Do not remove or throw away any papers unless instructed by the teacher.

Collecting Papers

Papers will be passed to a by paper passers. I will either have paper collectors collect them or have papers turned into the “Completed Tests” Bin

If you are absent, please check another my agenda to see what you missed. Missing papers will be put on your desk or in the absent folder.

Tests

  • All books and materials are placed in desk.
  • All privacy folders are set up before beginning a test.
  • You must stay in your seat during a test. If you need something, please raise your hand and ask the teacher.
  • Absolutely no talking during a test. If you are caught talking during a test, the test will be collected immediately and you will receive a zero.
  • If you have a question during a test, please raise your hand and I will assist you.
  • When you are finished, turn your test in the Completed Tests Bin and move your magnet. Put the testing folder back into the drawer or wait for paper collectors to collect them.. You may begin working on another assignment.. You are not allowed to leave your seat all students are done or I have declared that the test time is over.
  • I will try to grade your tests within a few days. I will not pass the tests back out until ALL students, including absent students, have finished their tests. Graded tests will be returned home in the testing folder on Fridays

End of Day Procedures

  1. Recheck the homework board. If homework has changed, adjust it on your agenda.
  2. You can highlight what you still have to do
  3. A major part of 6th grade homework is STUDYING!!
  4. Make sure you have all your items packed up.
  5. This is not a time to socialize, so it should be quiet and efficient.
  6. At the loop, do not forget to let me know when you see your parent, and say a pleasant farewell.

Tip

If you go to child care or have to pick up a sibling, please let me know in advance.
