Our Why~

Onboarding provides an overview of the SCUSD new teacher support program. This workshop will establish the requirements and expectations of the program as well as the rationale.

Ongoing, comprehensive information and supports will be offered by your individual Support Providers. There will also be frequent opportunities for professional learning throughout the year.

New Teacher Support Goals

  • Provide all SCUSD new teachers an ongoing, (two years for Induction, three for Pre-Induction) job-embedded system of mentoring, support, and professional learning leading to clear the preliminary credential.

  • Improve teacher recruitment, selection, and access to the profession;

  • Establish clear standards for new teacher preparation;

  • Increase and improve professional growth and accountability; and

  • Increase and improve professional collaboration, reflection and

system evaluation

Participating Teacher-Support Provider Assignments

New Participating teachers are assigned a Support Provider using the following criteria:

  • Credential (ie: Multiple Subjects)
  • School Site SP
  • Grade Level/Subject/Dept.
  • SP District Seniority (if more than one SP on site)
  • May need to assign a trained off site SP if no one is on site

We are currently working as quickly as possible to get all new teachers assigned.
