  • In high school, students EARN CREDITS.
  • To earn a credit, students must pass a class with a D- (60%) or higher for the semester.
  • Credits are earned at the end of each semester.
  • Students earn one credit for passing one semester of a class.
  • Students have specific classes they must pass. If they do not pass these classes, they retake them until they do.

Meet a postsecondary-ready competency.

You must meet at least one of these:

  • Earn an honors diploma.
  • Take AP or Dual College Credit Classes.
    • Must have C average in three classes.
  • Industry Certification
    • Can be earned in certain vocational programs.
  • Get a good SAT or ACT score.
    • Students take the SAT as a junior.
  • Pass ASVAB with 31 or higher.
    • Students take this as a sophomore.
  • Complete a CTE concentrator.
    • Must have C average in two advanced vocational classes.

Notes about the Registration Form

  • Students will have seven classes on their schedules.
  • Students are recommended for English 9 Honors and Biology I.
  • Eighth graders taking Algebra I decide if they count that class toward their high school credits.
  • Students who take Biology I as freshmen are on a path for more rigorous science courses early in high school. Freshmen in ICP can still take challenging courses later.
  • Students choose when they are going to take Geography or World History.
  • Students choose when and how they will earn their second P.E. credit.
  • Students rank their electives from #1 to #5. We try to get students in their top choices, but cannot always do so.
  • I will help them create a four-year graduation plan next year.
