  • The pandemic has magnified many challenges facing the field of education and created new ones.
  • In the renewal of education post-Covid, human interaction and well-being must be given priority.
  • Technology—particularly digital technology that enables communication, collaboration and learning across distance—is a tool, not a cure-all, but a source of innovation and expanded potentials.

Unique Scenarios to AHS . . .

If an 18 year old student has a zero-tolerance offense at their zone school, they cannot choose AHS as an option until after their suspension is fulfilled.

Any SPED courses denoted as “A” level are counted as electives at AHS since SPED services are no longer in place. (i.e., Biology A, Integrated Math A).

Attendance in a Virtual Environment

RCVS

Adult High School

3rd-8th Grade Teachers enter daily attendance in district’s Student Information System.

Adult Learners are not placed in the district’s SIS due to the transient nature of enrollment and the ability for students to complete coursework after traditional school hours.

High School Students enters daily attendance in their online dashboard. Expectation is that students complete the same amount of online hours as a school day in a traditional setting.

Specialist is able to track student progress and amount of time spent in the online platform. On average, adult learners spend 12 hours per week on coursework.

Administrative Staff is able to check session log of high school students to determine days absent and amount of time spent in each subject area.

Specialist submits manual attendance each 20 day reporting period to the districts Attendance Office for AHS students to count towards membership.
