About Office 365

Sampson Community College provides Office 365 for students, giving you access to your email, calendar, and contacts from virtually anywhere--with a familiar experience on the devices you use most.

• Office 365 is in essence a cloud-based package of the Office applications you already use – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote – with greater access at work and at home.
• Because the product is cloud- and subscription-based, the use of this service alleviates the need to host email servers on campus, and allows for easy access to software updates.
• Office 365 provides students with a College Email account, 5 TB of OneDrive cloud storage, and
• 5 free downloads of Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote).

What You Will Need

• Be a Registered Student of Sampson Community College
• Your SCC Office 365 email address.
• Your SCC MySCC Login Password

From the My Apps page select Office 365

How do I determine my username:

​

Your username is made up of the first initial of your first name + Last name up to the first 9-characters + the last 4-digits of your Colleague ID number for a total of no more than 14 characters.

Example:

Mary L. Johnson

Student ID: 0123456

Username is mjohnson3456.

Example-Dual lastname - No Hyphen:

Mark Jones Smith

Student ID: 3456789

Username is msmith6789.

Example-Hyphenated lastname (Drop the hyphen and use the first nine characters of the last name)

Name: Shelly K. Smith-Jones

Student ID: 2345678. 

Username is ssmithjone5678. 

Log into Office 365

1. Log into MySCC Login at https://www.sampsoncc.edu/
2. Enter your username – first letter of your first name + last name (up to the first 9 characters) + last four digits of the SCC Colleague Student ID number.
3. Enter your password.

Download Office 365

Locate the tiles in the top left-hand corner of your Office 365 inbox.

Next, click Office 365

Install Office

• On the right-hand side of the page locate Install Office and click the dropdown menu.
• Select the first option – Office 365 apps

• If you are using Google Chrome the file will be located in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. You may need to go to your Downloads folder from the file tray if the application does not Run manually.

You are Ready to Install Office 365

• Once the file has completed click the File tray, step 1. Next click Downloads, step 2, next click OfficeSetup.exe, step 3, and then click Run if it does not start automatically.

Install Office

The file is ready to run. From the Office Setup.exe file:

1. Click Run
2. Say Yes
3. Stay Online

Install Office

For Mac users The Downloads folder on OSX (MAC) can be accessed from the Dock.

Install Office from ME

Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer Direction

If you are using Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer select Run from the toolbar and then follow the prompts as shown above.

The download speed will depend on your device. Please be sure the window remains open while the Office Suite is loading.
