Wednesday 22nd March 2023

On Wednesday 22 March 2023 we went to Tallin, the capital of Estonia and it took about two hours to go there from Pärnu. We visited the Europa Experience where we learned the history of many European cities and Governments.

Then we went to Studio Rackett 69, a place where we did some experiments and activities related to STEM like building a capsule for an egg or finding the midpoint of Estonia.

Then we had a free hour with our Estonian friends and we saw a lot of monuments and bought some souvenirs in the old part of the city.

Thursday 23rd March

We started lessons at 8:10 am and finished at 3 pm. The subjects of the day were: History, Art, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Russian and Physics.

The most appreciated lesson was Art and we had fun studying Russian, a language so different from ours. We changed classroom for each subject and there were breaks between lessons to help students relax and rest.

What was it like to stay in a host family?

It was nice to stay in a host family because we communicated and made friends with all the family members and learned new habits and new traditions about their way of life.

We all bonded with our peers and with the family and that made us feel at home.

How was it like to live away from our families?

In a foreign country, you can find yourself alone, so you need to be more responsible and independent.

Furthermore you must adapt and you mustn’t give up.

So it’s important to be strong!

The results of the work

During these days we worked about responsible consumption and environment in general (pollution, importance of water, etc). Thanks to these activities we learned to work in groups, tried to speak English and, of course, paid more attention to these issues.

Communication in English

At first it was a bit difficult to talk and communicate with other students, even though they were very good at speaking in English, but quickly we were all able to communicate in some ways and our English improved so much too.
