Mission and Vision

At Rashkis, we provide a safe and inclusive learning environment that creates a sense of belonging for all students and families from diverse backgrounds.

Our mission is to create an inclusive and empowering community where students develop the skills and confidence to become critical thinkers, collaborative leaders, and problem solvers.

School Improvement Plan Goals 2022-2024

Reading:

  • By June 2024, overall reading proficiency in Grades 3-5 will meet the target of 77.5% proficiency. Student groups will meet or exceed the following proficiency targets:
    • Asian - 67.3% White - 93% Black - 46% Multi-Language Learners - 45.4% (A4.01)

Math:

  • By June 2024, overall math proficiency in Grades 3-5 will meet the target of 83.0 % proficiency. Student groups will meet the following proficiency targets:
    • Asian - 77.0% White - 93% Black- 46%. (A1.06)

Student Culture Goal:

  • By May 2024, 90% of students will agree that they feel safe, welcomed, and cared for at school as measured by a quarterly survey. The school works to create a culture where students’ social and emotional needs are addressed and supported. (A4.06)

Attendance Goal:

  • We will decrease Chronic Absences by 2.5 percentage points annually.

Priority Indicators

A1.06: ALL teachers provide sound instruction in a variety of modes: teacher-directed whole-class; teacher-directed small-group; independent work; computer-based.

A4.01: The school implements a tiered instructional system that allows teachers to deliver evidence-based instruction aligned with the individual needs of students across all tiers.

A4.06: All teachers are attentive to students’ emotional states, guide students in managing their emotions, and arrange for supports and interventions when necessary.

E1.06: The school regularly communicates with parents/guardians about its expectations of them and the importance of the curriculum of the home (what parents can do at home to support their children's learning).

A1.07: ALL teachers employ effective classroom management and reinforce classroom rules and procedures by positively teaching them.

  • Exceeding growth in the 23-24 school year
  • Implementing the Ron Clark House System
  • Hosting four well-attended community events during the 2023-2024 school year, with four more events planned for this year
  • Launching a Battle of the Books program, with over 60 4th and 5th graders participating
  • Maintaining an active and supportive PTA
  • Receiving multiple grants from the Public School Foundation, including an African Drumming grant, and continuous support of field trips
  • Participating in our 19th year of Arts in Action
  • Celebrating the 20th year of Rashkis’ opening

  • By June 2025, ML students will meet the Progress Indicator Goal of 50.8 as measured by ACCESS assessments (A4.01).

TSI/ATSI Student Group(s) Goals:

  • By June 2025, overall reading proficiency of black students in Grades 3-5 will increase from 19.6% to 38% (A2.22).
  • By June 2025, 70% of Black students in grades K-2 will have a green or blue composite score as measured by mCLASS (A2.22).
  • By June 2025, overall math proficiency of black students in Grades 3-5 will increase from 32.6% to 40 % (A1.06).

Creating a Culture of Safety and Wellness

School Culture Goals:

  • By June 2025, the percentage of 4th and 5th graders reporting positive perceptions of school climate will increase from 64% to 80%, as measured by Panorama and a school-developed survey (B2.01).
  • By January 2025 (end of Quarter 2), office referrals will decrease by 10% (A1.07).
  • By June 2025, we will reduce chronic absenteeism from 15% to 10% (E1.06).

Family and Community Engagement Goal:

  • By June of 2025, we will host four parent nights or outreach events with at least 50% of Rashkis families attending 2 of the 4 events (E1.06).

Action Steps:

  • We will provide professional development for small group instruction using these wraparound services: iReady PD, ARC coaching, building- level coaching, ALP coaching, planning days, Early Literacy Specialist coaching.
