Why - Purpose of SOS/”PAWS” Program

What do you need to be successful here at Woodland this school year?

  • Watch the Video
  • #OwnYourEducation- take responsibility for your own education
  • Grow in your skills and understanding of content
  • To get additional academic help/tutoring during the school day
  • Enrichment/Activity time
  • Work time

3 of 13

  • Students choice was limited
  • Some only used it to work on missing work/tests/quizzes
  • Students and teachers did not always connect on reteaching or further instruction
  • Enrichment opportunities were not a consistent option
  • Hard to track students’ work & attendance during the time

PAWS Expectations & Reminders

  1. Sign up weekly for a workshop for Tues. - Thurs.
  2. Be on time to PAWS workshops. This is just like an additional class period for you and you can receive tardies if you’re late. We will take attendance!
  3. Keep your grades up so that you can have the option to choose where you go during PAWS.
  4. Those who are failing classes will be assigned to a principal-managed PAWS workshop that you will attend Tuesday through Thursday of each week until you bring your grade(s) up to passing. (i.e. - You will lose the privilege of choosing workshops until you’re passing all classes.)
  5. If you fail to sign up for a workshop, or you are not pulled by a teacher, you will default to Silent Reading - no talking, no electronics/earbuds/Chromebook, no hall passes, must have a book to read. (Sign up for a workshop! :))
