NARRATION

Narrative writing involves writing about events in the story in which they occurred (time sequence order)

The purpose is to tell a story.

Can be fiction or non-fiction

Uses first, second, or third person. Include dialogue!

NARRATION PROJECT

  • This project has 2 parts:
    • 2 page written essay
    • Presentation with illustrations

Steps:

    • Write the essay. Make sure to go through the complete writing process. (What are the steps again?)
    • Create a PowerPoint that has a minimum of 5 slides.
    • Each slide should contain pictures ONLY.
    • You will read the final draft of your essay aloud to the class. You will use your Powerpoint with pictures to illustrate your ideas.
    • You are essentially creating a “live movie” for your classmates.

***Make sure you practice! You must click the pictures at the right time for maximum of effect. Make sure you pronounce your words correctly and that your voice conveys the TONE of the story.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Narrative Writing is storytelling and consists of characters, conflict, plot, setting, and theme. Narrative writing can be fiction or non-fiction. Writers may use first or third person when telling their story.
  • Important elements:
  • Have a beginning, middle, end
  • Multiple supporting paragraphs which support a thesis
  • Interesting introduction
  • Strong conclusion which explains a solution or resolution
  • Use sophisticated vocabulary
