WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER GETTING A COVID-19 VACCINE

Possible side effects 1-2 days after getting the shot:

sore arm
fatigue
headache
mild fever

These side effects last about 1 day and are signs that vaccine is working.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses given a few (3-4) weeks apart. The first shot starts building protection and the second shot maximizes the protection. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine provides full protection 2 weeks after the first and only dose.

Some people have reported that they experience some temporary side effects within a couple of days of getting the shot, like a sore arm, fatigue, headache and sometimes mild fever. This is normal—if you’ve ever gotten a vaccination for shingles, it’s similar to that. It’s also a sign that the vaccine is working to build immunity, and the side effects only last a day or two.

Researchers are still studying the long-term safety of these vaccines in the ongoing clinical trials. Most side effects happened within 7 days of vaccination and lasted for 1-3 days.

Side effects are more common after the second dose.

Notes about allergic reactions.

Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are very rare, but can happen, especially in individuals with existing severe allergic conditions. With nearly 1.9 million doses given, a total of 21 cases of anaphylaxis have been reported. All of them were able to be treated, usually with a shot of epinephrine to open airways in the lungs.

If you have a history of serious allergic reactions to any of the vaccine ingredients , you should not get the vaccine. If you have a history of serious allergic reactions to ANY vaccine(s), you should talk to your doctor before getting the vaccine.

Will the COVID-19 Vaccine affect my period?

Some people may have temporary changes.

The vaccine does NOT affect someone’s ability to get pregnant, now or later.

WHAT’S NOT IN THE VACCINE?

Microchip? NO.

Fetal tissue? NO.
Pork, animal by-products, eggs? NO.

Is there corona virus in the vaccines?

NO. The vaccines work without any exposure to coronavirus.

Is there a microchip in the vaccine?

NO.

The key ingredient in the vaccines are “genetic blueprints” which tell your cells how to make a protein from the coronavirus, allowing it to recognize COVID-19 and protect you from infection.

Is there fetal tissue in the vaccines?

No. There is no fetal tissue in the vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccines did not use any cells from fetal tissue in the manufacturing of the vaccine.

Cells that came from fetal tissue were used in the early stages of design of Johnson & Johnson.

The Vatican has determined that “it is morally acceptable to receive Covid-19 vaccines” that have used cell in their research and production process. Local Muslim leaders and providers like Washington State Secretary of Health Dr. Umair A. Shah, Director of Middle Eastern Initiatives and Professor of Global Health at UW Dr. Ai Mokdad, and Imams Sheik Mohamed Joban and Sheikh Fazul Hasan all encourage residents to get vaccinated.

Does the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine have pork or animal by-products? Does the vaccine include eggs?

No.

The vaccines do not contain porcine gelatin or eggs.

Can the COVID Vaccine make you magnetic? NO

There is nothing in the vaccine that is magnetic or can make you magnetic (produce an electromagnetic field).

They do not have any manufactured products such as microelectronics, electrodes, carbon nanotubes, or nanowire semiconductors.

There is nothing in the vaccines that can track you.

The Delta Variant is extremely contagious and passes from person to person easily.
If someone gets this strain of COVID-19, they are likely to pass it to multiple people.
The symptoms are the same as other COVID-19 infections.

much less likely to have severe symptoms if they do catch COVID-19.

The best way to protect yourself and your community is to get fully vaccinated!

WHAT WE STILL NEED TO LEARN ABOUT COVID-19 VACCINES

Will I be protected from all variant strains?
How long will the immunity from the vaccine last?�

Variant strains

Studies are ongoing, but they suggest that antibodies and other infection fighting cells produced by the vaccines also recognize these new strains and therefore still provide some protection

Immunity

Experts are tracking vaccination closely to help answer questions that are still unknown.

We don’t know how long the protection from vaccine will last. It’s possible that two shots will provide lifelong protection. But it’s also possible the COVID-19 vaccine could be more like the flu vaccine that requires annual shots.

The vaccine will give a high level of protection against getting sick with COVID-19. But we don’t yet if it’s possible to get vaccinated and still get a very mild infection—not enough to be sick, but enough to spread the virus to others. Studies are in progress to answer this question. That’s why even after you get vaccinated, you should still wear a mask and practice social distancing—just in case.

GETTING VACCINATED:�DO I NEED PARENT / ADULT CONSENT?

People 18 and under may need consent from an authorized adult.�

If an authorized adult will NOT be with you when you get the vaccine,

ask what you need to bring to the appointment with you to be able to get the vaccine.

Authorized adult consent: If you are younger than 18 years old, you may need consent from an authorized adult to get the vaccine. You can consent for yourself if you are emancipated, married to an adult, or the vaccine site determines you are a mature minor. Not all vaccine sites are able to make mature minor determinations.��

Authorized adults who may consent for minors include:

Adult who has court permission to make health care decisions for you (legal guardian, custodian, out-of-home placement order)

Parent

Adult who has your parent's written permission to make health care decisions for you

Adult relative responsible for your health care

In some circumstances, a school nurse, school counselor, or homeless student liaison��

If an authorized adult will not attend the vaccine appointment with you, check with your vaccine provider about requirements for showing proof of authorized adult consent or legal emancipation.
