From Double Wing to Triple wing model : why ?

  • During the five year of EURAD, the double wing model was increasingly accepted and appreciated by the involved actors (most overcome of the initial scepticism)

  • However, some points can be improved for future research activities:

    • Difficulties for maintaining the CS larger group over this long duration: question of renewal of members and introduction of new members during the research programme (and not only at the beginning)

    • Reinforce diversity of CS members involved

    • Improve the diversity of EURAD members attending the ICS workshops.

=> the double wing model could develop into a triple wing model

Some principles for Triple wing model implementation 1/2

Enlargement of criteria for selecting CS members of the CS larger group

  • Potential members not necessarily engaged in RWM before EURAD
  • Ensuring diversity of views : local, international level but also position regarding nuclear
  • Enlargement of the networks involved in the identification of the potential candidates

Enlargement of the numbers of CS members involved

  • Gathering a CS group following the research activities not restricted to budget envelop for inviting CS members to physical workshops (hybrid format)
  • What rules for identifying persons that will attend physically ? Different categories of members in the CS larger group, rotation of CS members attending the workshops physically, others ?
  • Importance of good material conditions for hybrid meetings

Some principles for Triple wing model implementation 2/2

Creation of a third wing for CS involvement

  • organisation of dissemination events to include additional types of CS actors : outside EURAD, with less knowledge regarding RWM in addition to ICS workshops involvement
  • Examples already identified: local communities and CS members from European organisations like representatives of EESC
  • Others ? Importance of explaining the EURAD vision and role of ICS in EURAD (Aarhus Convention)

Use of pluralistic tools and methods for ensuring fruitful pluralistic discussion

  • Concrete cases discussions (based on test during previous research programmes)
  • PEP created during EURAD-1 : PEP monitoring and PEP near-field tools
  • Needs to identify other innovative ways of moderation

Questions related dissemination and triple wing model

  • 1 – Why involving CS in future research activities on RWM ? What objectives ? What meaning ?

Answers to this question will impact the way to implement ICS activities in the future

  • 2 – What are your feedback on ICS activities in EURAD (positive points and elements to be improved) ?

ICS team have identified elements but interesting to have additional feedbacks. Answers to this question will also impact the way to implement

  • 3 – How implementing concretely triple-wing model and dissemination of ICS results in the future ?

As inputs for implementing future ICS activities, it is important to collect views on conditions and concrete ideas for organising these activities. Designing triple wing model is a first step.
