Under the fig tree, I saw you
في الغد أراد يسوع أن يخرج إلى الجليل فوجد فيلبس فقال له: "اتبعني." وكان فيلبس من بيت صيدا من مدينة أندراوس وبطرس، فيلبس وجد نثنائيل وقال له: "وجدنا الذي كتب عنه موسى في الناموس والأنبياء يسوع ابن يوسف الذي من الناصرة." فقال له نثنائيل: "أمن الناصرة يمكن أن يكون شيء صالح؟" قال له فيلبس: "تعال و انظر."
The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter, Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote -- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
ورأى يسوع نثنائيل مقبلا إليه فقال عنه: "هوذا إسرائيلي حقا لا غش فيه." قال له نثنائيل: "من أين تعرفني؟" أجاب يسوع و قال له: "قبل أن دعاك فيلبس وأنت تحت التينة رأيتك." أجاب نثنائيل وقال له: "يا معلم أنت ابن الله أنت ملك إسرائيل." أجاب يسوع وقال له: "هل آمنت لأني قلت لك إني رأيتك تحت التينة؟ سوف ترى أعظم من هذا."
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered and said to Him, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!"
Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."
و قال له: "الحق الحق أقول لكم: من الآن ترون السماء مفتوحة و ملائكة الله يصعدون و ينزلون على ابن الإنسان." ( يو 1 : 43 – 51 )
And He said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man." (Joh 1 : 43 – 51 )

Perhaps Nathanael was asking for a sign

Perhaps he longed to see Christ

Perhaps there was a visitation of grace

ربما أخذ قراراً أو عهداً ليكون بلا غش ( تحت التينة )
Perhaps he took the decision or made a vow to be without deception (under the fig tree)

He started His service with an extended time of solitude
كان يميل للجبل والبحر

He may come in the fourth watch of the night

The Fig Tree Puts Forth Her Green Figs
أجاب حبيبي و قال لي: "قومي يا حبيبتي يا جميلتي و تعالي. لأن الشتاء قد مضى، والمطر مر وزال. الزهور ظهرت في الأرض. بلغ أوان القضب و صوت اليمامة سمع في أرضنا. التينة أخرجت فجها، وقعال الكروم تفيح رائحتها. قومي يا حبيبتي يا جميلتي و تعالي."

My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away. For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell.
Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!” (Sol 2 : 10 – 13 )
انا لحبيبي و إلي اشتياقه. تعال يا حبيبي لنخرج إلى الحقل و لنبت في القرى. لنبكرن إلى الكروم، لننظر: هل أزهر الكرم؟ هل تفتح القعال؟ هل نور الرمان؟ هنالك أعطيك حبي.

ثم قالت الأشجار للتينة: "تعالي أنت واملكي علينا. فقالت لها التينة: أأترك حلاوتي وثمري الطيب وأذهب لكي أملك على الأشجار؟ ( قضاه 9 : 10 – 11 )
Then the trees said to the fig tree, 'You come and reign over us!‘
But the fig tree said to them, 'Should I cease my sweetness and my good fruit, And go to sway over trees?’

فمن شجرة التين تعلموا المثل: متى صار غصنها رخصا وأخرجت أوراقها تعلمون ان الصيف قريب. هكذا أنتم أيضا متى رأيتم هذا كله فاعلموا أنه قريب على الأبواب.
( متى 24 : 32 - 33 )
Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near -- at the doors!

فقال موسى للشعب: "لا تخافوا. قفوا وانظروا خلاص الرب الذي يصنعه لكم اليوم. فإنه كما رأيتم المصريين اليوم لا تعودون ترونهم أيضا إلى الأبد. (خر 14 : 13)
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. (Exo 14 : 13)
