Specific Courses Needed:

  • English I
  • English II
  • English III or AP English Language
  • English IV or AP English Literature or Dual Credit English or African American Literature

*To fully prepare students for college, students will be required to to take an English course EVERY year, even if the student has four years of credit.

  • Integrated Math I (Algebra I)
  • Integrated Math II (Geometry)
  • Integrated Math III (Advanced Algebra II)

*To fully prepare students for college, students will be required to to take an Math course EVERY year, even if the student has three years of credit.

  • INS I (Chemistry/Biology)
  • INS II (Chemistry/ Biology)
  • INS III (Physics) OR AP Physics

* These are the only courses that fulfill the CPS Grad Requirement for Science.

Specific Courses Needed:

  • PE I (Health)
  • PE II (Drivers Education)

* Students MUST participate in a PE course every year per State of Illinois regulations.

* Upper class courses include PE III, PE IV, & Strength and Conditioning

World Language

Students MUST take two years of the SAME language in order to meet this graduation requirement.

*Students who are considering applying to highly selective colleges may want to consider taking four years of the same world language.

Social Studies

Specific Courses Needed:

  • AP Human Geography or AP World History
  • AP Government or Civics
  • AP US History or Dual Credit US History or Honors US History

*To fully prepare students for college, students will be encouraged to to take additional SS courses EVERY year.

Fine Arts

  • Students are required to take two years of fine arts.
  • The Studio Arts, Digital Arts, and Performance Arts all fulfill this requirement.

Computer Science

Every student must take a full year of Computer Science

Courses that fulfill this requirement:

  • Exploring Computer Science (ECS)
  • AP Computer Science Principles
  • AP Computer Science A

Electives

Students need to pass four additional courses after they have fulfilled all of the specific CPS Grad Requirements.

Students will accumulate 28 credits over the course of their HS career, and they only need 24 to graduate.
