• In Jurupa AYSO, our Core program players play at least 3/4 of every game (Exceptions may apply)

• We have an 8-10 game season followed by Jurupa Cup (for teams that earn required volunteer points)

Positive Coaching

What does this mean?

​

Coaches go through training and background checks to become a coach. Every coach is a volunteer and have different ways of coaching. The one thing we want from all coaches is positivity for the players and team.

​

Some coaches are new but they were willing to volunteer, so let’s also be positive with the child’s coach so we can have more coaches rather than losing them. We appreciate all the coaches taking the time to be a coach!

Balanced Teams

What does this mean?

​

At the end of the season coaches evaluate the players. This allows us to form balanced teams the next season. We rely on coaches to get this to us as this is the only way to create teams as evenly as possible.

Open Registration

What does this mean?

​

You don’t have to live in Jurupa to play in Jurupa. You can live out of the city and still enroll here.

Player Development

What does this mean?

​

Our goal is to develop players skills in this sport. We want to have improvement and see the kids come back next season to keep developing their skills.

Under-4 Program

• Objective: Expose players

to the fundamentals of

key motor, balance and

coordination skills in an

age -appropriate fun

sessions.

• Both players and parents participate on the field.
• 1-hour session once a week.
• Parents/Guardian required to complete ALL Volunteer Requirements.

Under-5 Division

• Provides players the environment to discover the game of soccer.
• Only players and the coach on the field.
• 1-hour session once a week.
• 10 minutes - group activity and warm up
• 5 minute quarters with 2 minute water breaks and 4-5 minute half time.
• 3v3, NO goalkeeper, NO offside.
• 3 quarter is required for each player, “Everyone Plays”

Under-6 Division�Explained:

• Designed and researched coaching programs for developmental stages
• U6 = Time for Exploration
• Platform created for this age group encourages a player to explore, experiment and participate with (and without) the ball and fall in love with the beautiful game.

Under-6 Division�Points:

• 7 min quarters with 1 min water break and 3-4 min half time. Total game time is no more than 40 min.
• 1-hour practice once a week only
• Please be considerate and start and end on time as other teams will be ready to play right after your game
• Possible Friday night games when time changes due to field availability, etc.

Under-7 Division

• Emphasis on quality training, establishing good habits and adopting foundations for development. At the same time, prioritizes age-appropriate application. They are still kids!
• 6v6 & NO goal keeper
• No offside = more goals
• Still 3/4 rule no free subs!

U7 = Time for Discovery

Under-7 Division

• 6v6 & NO goal keeper
• No offside = more goals
• Still 3/4 rule no free subs!
• May have Friday night games
• Due to teams being uneven there may be double headers and/or they may have a “bye” week

Points

Under-8 Division

• Emphasis on quality training, establishing good habits and learning positions. At the same time, prioritizes age-appropriate application. They are still kids!
• 7v7 & goal keeper
• No offside = more goals
• ½ play rule no free subs!

U8 = Transition to U10

Under-8 Division

• 7v7 & a goal keeper
• No offside = more goals
• ½ play rule no free subs!
• May have Friday night games
• Due to teams being uneven there may be double headers and/or they may have a “bye” week

Points

Under-10 Division

• 10U is an exciting step in your child's journey into soccer. In this division the fields get larger and the soccer ball is bigger.
• There are more players on the field as well as goalkeepers.
• There are more rules to follow (throwins, buildout line, offsides) as well as a more competitive atmosphere (playoffs, allstars, tournaments).
• This in turn will help aid in your child's overall development.

Under-10 Division

• Referees are also introduced, remember that they are to keep time and mind the game not the coach, or parents.

• May have Friday night games

• Due to teams being uneven there may be double headers and/or they may have a “bye” week

Under-12 Division

• Numbers: Nine per team on field; one of which is a goalkeeper. 11 maximum on roster.

​

• Substitutions: Between periods, at halftime and for injuries.

​

• Playing Time: Minimum of three periods per game as Jurupa has 3/4 rule play

​

• May have away games

Under-14 Division

• Numbers: Eleven per team on field; one of which is a goalkeeper. 15 maximum on roster.

​

• Substitutions: Between periods, at halftime and for injuries.

​

• Playing Time: Minimum of three periods per game unless there is a 15 person roster then it is two periods per game minimum

​

• May have away games

​

Under-14 Division

​

• Competitive, and teams can possibly travel to local regions

​

• Due to lower registrants in Spring this division could be turned into a Co-Ed division. We balance out G/B and their evaluation ratings when teams are created

Volunteer Points

• How many are needed?
• 7 for U6 (2 must be from refereeing)
• 8 for U8 (3 must be from refereeing)
• 28 for U10 (18 must be from refereeing)
• How can you earn them?
• 1 hour = 1 point, we also have forms and other ways to earn points for your team
• Referee points earned only for refereeing a U10 and above game (AR=1 Center=3) more for higher division

Volunteer Points

Field Takedown

• If you are the last game on a Saturday, it is the responsibility of both teams to take the nets down on fields for U6, U8, & U10. Failure to do so will result in a referee volunteer point deduction from each team

Why are they needed?

• We can’t stress enough how this is a volunteer organization, we are all volunteers and need your help for the region to continue running

• Why volunteer?
• As mentioned, AYSO is an all volunteer based organization. Our Board puts in many hours behind the scenes and at the fields but we need your help to keep the region going. We put in our time for kids to play, and we ask for a few hours of your time to help us so we can also watch our kids play and allow other kids to continue in this sport

We Pick Up After Ourselves

Please don’t leave your half time snacks or after game snacks on the floor for someone else to pick up. Another team is usually after you and they shouldn’t have to pick up your mess either.

It’s our responsibility to keep our park clean, so please put in your part and pick up your trash and dispose of it correctly.

​

Sometimes volunteers come around asking for trash also, place it in their bag so we don’t have to pick up even more at the end of the day.

Why don’t parents volunteer?

​

• “I don’t have time.”
• Over the course of more than 12 weeks, we can all find at least 1 hour to volunteer and earn a point for the team.
• Our coaches, referees and board members have full-time jobs and other obligations too, come ask we can probably work something out
• “I don’t know anything about soccer.”
• If you coach or referee - we will teach you and support you.
• You don’t have to know soccer to coach or referee

Volunteering is Rewarding

• No hablo ingles.”

• “I’m nervous and don’t know what to do.”
• Board members will help direct you. We will teach you. We don’t want to embarrass you. If you’re uncomfortable with what we asked, let us know.
• “I have younger children with me and can’t volunteer with them.”
• We have some tasks you can do with small children accompanying you. If you’re willing to do some volunteering for us at home - like creating fliers, delivering fliers, mailings, etc., please let us know. We need all the help we can get.

Volunteering is Rewarding

• “I tried once and they turned me away.” or “They were rude to me.”
• We try to give everyone the opportunity to volunteer. However, most want to volunteer mid-Saturday morning. We sometimes run out of opportunities for an hour. But we need LOTS of help in the morning before games and in the afternoon.
• We hope you aren’t treated rudely but sometimes we board members are a little flustered or having a rough day. Please give us a little leeway when we have many people vying for our attention.
• “I don’t feel like doing it.”
• Volunteering is a benefit for you and for your children. They see our examples and become better citizens of their communities. Remember that AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. Board members want to enjoy watching their children play too. To do that, we need your help.

Feedback. . .

• “Why have a waitlist when fields don’t look full”
• Uniforms take 4-6 weeks minimum to arrive. If we don’t close registration at a certain time and allow it to be open, we run the risk of a team or teams not having uniforms. Would you be a happy parent not getting a uniform prior to the game when you registered early? Especially if someone just registered a week ago received theirs? We have to look at many variables, and as much as we’d love to add more players we have to cover all avenues.
• Be more flexible with Jurupa Cup
• I believe this is regarding points and getting into the cup. Jurupa Cup is the “extra” game we give and put together. It’s basically a tournament that players don’t pay for. Normally tournaments range from $500-$900. This is put on strictly by the Board Members and we have little to no volunteers that day. It’s a Thank You to the parents who put in time to get their kids here. There are many ways of getting points.

At the end of the season we asked how we could improve – here are some comments, and responses we’d like to provide:

Equipment

• We provide the uniforms and hand to coaches
• Coaches will distribute – They line up kids smallest to tallest.
• Need shin guards- can not practice or play without
• Cleats recommended, for younger players you can wear tennis shoes but can get slippery on grass
• Soccer balls U4-U8: Size 3
• U10-U12: Size 4
• U14 and above: Size 5

Jewelry

• No Jewelry is allowed during games, please be sure to remove any/all earrings, bracelets, watches from children. They will not be eligible to play if jewelry is left on of any kind. Please help us so that we don’t delay games by removing before play time. If we catch kids with jewelry we will have to ask you to remove it and it will delay their playing time and we don’t want that, and we are sure you don’t either.

• Teams will be assigned times (Minimal Games)

Important Dates

• Practices can start week of 3/1/26, depends on coaches and fields
• Coaches can choose various times Monday thru Thursday between 5PM thru 9PM (U6 & U7 only 1 night)

• Coaches will ONLY receive team info if their certifications are in order.

Important FAQ

• It’s raining — are games cancelled?�→ Games will go on. We only cancel if there’s lightning or if the park closes the fields.
• It’s hot, what happens?�→ We add more water breaks, encourage canopies & cooling towels, and may reduce game time. Games will go on. Parents always have the right to not have their child participate if they feel conditions are unsafe.
• I don’t have enough kids to play, do I cancel?�→ No. Games are never cancelled. Options:
• Play with fewer players on each side
• Borrow players from the other team (wear pinnies)
• Can players with casts or splints play?�→ No. For safety, players with casts or splints are not allowed to participate until fully

cleared.

• Do we have to pay for Picture Day?�→ No. A basic package is already included. Families can purchase more if they’d like.
