  • Self-Contained Classroom taught by a special education teacher with paraprofessional support
  • Must qualify based on a formal special education evaluation
  • Re-evaluation required every 12 months

Tuition Based Preschool

  • Enrollment based on a lottery
  • Lottery Form is posted on our website in late January aecc.royaloakschools.org
  • Families are randomly selected
  • Full day Monday-Thursday 8:45-3:45; $630 per month
  • Half day Monday-Thursday 8:45-11:45 AM & 12:45-3:45 PM; $315 per month
  • Families supply all snacks and lunches
  • Families must comply with ALL licensing requirements

GSRP- Great Start Readiness Program

  • Must be 4 years-old
  • Must live in Oakland County
  • Household Income determines enrollment and tuition costs
  • Enrollment deadlines are determined by the state legislature each summer
  • *Higher income families may apply
  • Families must comply with ALL licensing requirements
  • Application available at MiEarly Childhood Connect (MiECC)

Kindergarten vs Developmental Kindergarten

Kindergarten

  • Must be 5 by Sept. 1st
  • Optional waiver for children turning 5 Sept. 1-Nov. 30
  • No cost to families
  • Monday-Friday 8:25-3:30
  • Kindergarten Information Night: January 31st
  • Enrollment begins February 1st
  • Must enroll with neighborhood school,
  • May complete “Elementary Transfer” to be considered for a different school (Feb. 1-Feb. 28 ONLY)

Developmental Kindergarten

  • Must be 5 by Sept. 1st
  • Optional waiver for children turning 5 Sept. 1-Nov. 30
  • No cost to families
  • Monday-Friday 8:25-3:30
  • Smaller class size & slower pace
  • Kindergarten Information Night: Jan. 31st
  • Enrollment begins February 1st
  • *Sometimes not offered in every elementary building
