SeaKeepers is an international, 501c3 nonprofit organization centered in South Florida with several international chapters in areas such as the UK, Singapore, and the South Pacific.

The International SeaKeepers Society promotes oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the boating and yachting community, as well as the general public and students of all ages.

Providing educational resources and hands-on marine science experiences to students is the primary focus for ensuring the future well-being of our planet.

So, Who Is This?

Jack Rucker

Educational Outreach Manager

  • Marine Biologist in Miami, FL
  • Worked with SeaKeepers since July 2024
    • Appointed Educational Outreach Manager in July 2025
  • B.S. with Honors in Marine Biology from University of North Carolina Wilmington (‘22)
  • MPS in Marine Conservation from the University of Miami (‘24)
  • Headed the Education & Outreach Department of the University of Miami’s Shark Research and Conservation Team from late 2022-2024
  • Been in Education for 5 years, but sharing my love for the ocean with all who will listen for 25!

SeaKeepers Education Programming Overview

SeaKeepers has been expanding our educational efforts since 2019, working to connect with schools and extracurricular groups all over South Florida. As of 2025, we have worked with more than 150 schools and nearly 85,000 students, and have more than 6,200 volunteers in our outreach network!

We at SeaKeepers offer a wide range of options for educational programming, all completely free of charge, for all students K-12, including:

  • Classroom Visits and Presentations
  • Floating Classrooms
  • Classroom on the Sand experiences
  • Downloadable Virtual Lesson Plans
  • Workshops and Professional Development Days for Educators

In 2025, SeaKeepers has been working hard to expand our educational efforts to international chapters, as well as provide more opportunities for wider audiences. This has led to numerous advancements, including:
