Poverty and Social Challenges: Indonesia faces issues of poverty, unemployment, and inequality, with cash waqf as a potential solution.

Potential of Cash Waqf: Estimated at IDR 180 trillion, but only IDR 2.3 trillion collected as of 2023.

Government Initiatives: National Cash Waqf Movement launched in 2021 to boost contributions.

Research Question:

  1. What are the factors affecting waqif's interest in cash waqf?
  2. How to build a framework to explain the factors affecting waqif’s interest in cash waqf?

PREVIOUS RESEARCH

    • Review of five related studies that analyze factors impacting cash waqf
    • The Closest Study: Gzahli et al. (2023), "Factors that Affect Community in Contributing to Cash Waqf for Economic Development: A Structured Review"
    • Differences:
      • Scope: Gzahli et al. (2023) focused on economic development; current study has broader scope.
      • Data Source: Gzahli et al. (2023) used Scopus, WoS, and Springer; current study focuses on Scopus.
      • Time Range: Gzahli et al. (2023) 🡪 (2015–2022); current study (2019–2024).

METHODOLOGY

    • Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following PRISMA guidelines.
    • Keywords: Combination of "cash waqf" and "determinant" to collect articles.
    • Selection Criteria: Filters applied to Scopus articles, limiting results to 2019–2024.
    • Data Sources: 32 relevant articles selected after filtering and quality assessment.

CONCLUSION & FUTURE RESEARCH

Conclusion

Cash waqf remains underutilized in Indonesia, with insights on significant factors aiding in strategizing for higher collection rates.

Research Gaps

Empirical Gap: Insignificant influence findings for 22 variables require further examination.

Methodological Gap: Most studies rely on quantitative approaches; there is a need for more qualitative and mixed-methods research to capture deeper insights into waqif motivations and perceptions

Research Limitations

Limited to Scopus-indexed articles; future studies should include additional databases (e.g. Web of Science) for a broader perspective.
