Last week we celebrated our Second Annual Mental Health Awareness Week at MMS! Throughout the week, we had daily announcements and Schoology posts to raise awareness and promote healthy discussions around mental health. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood through adulthood. One way we can work to stop the stigma is to start talking about mental health.

Each day students were able to answer questions based on the schoology post topic and were entered in a drawing to win activity afternoon tickets. Students were encouraged to participate in self-care BINGO throughout the week. If students completed a BINGO or Blackout BINGO, they were entered into a drawing to win self-care raffle baskets! On Wednesday students and staff were encouraged to wear green to support Mental Health Awareness. We had a great week raising awareness about mental health and learning about new self-care strategies.

Greetings! My name is Gary Campbell, 7th Grade School Counselor this year. For those who don’t know me, I am the “young at heart,” “old guy”. I grew up in the Roberts/Hammond area and graduated from St. Croix Central. My Bachelor degree was in Social Work from UW-Eau Claire and my Masters in School Counseling is from UW-Stout. I worked as a Social Worker in Treatment Foster Care for about 10 years, finished my Masters, and have spent the last 26 years here at MMS as a School Counselor.

My wife and I have lived in RF since I started here. My family consists of Dawn, my wife, my daughter Mackenzie and her husband Justin, my daughter Olivia and her dog Banks, and my son Ethan and his girlfriend Olivia. My three kids all graduated from RFHS. I enjoy family time, hanging with my grand-dog Banks, golfing (well most days, depending how I play), officiating sports and the Packers. Fun little fact, I am a published author (my book is in the school library, check it out). As always, I am excited for another year here at MMS and the fun and learning it will bring.
