Potential Timeline (Daniel 2:1)

  • Chapter 2 likely takes place before the end of chapter 1
    • End of chapter 1 would be a summary of what happened later
  • Regarding dates:
    • 605-604 BC would be considered Nebuchadnezzar’s “ascension” year and not counted as his first full year
    • 604-603 BC would be his first full year
    • 603-602 BC would be his second full year
      • Lines up with ~602 BC being end of Daniel’s 3-year training period

Question (Daniel 2:10-11)

The Chaldeans answered the king and said, “There is not a man on the earth who can show the king’s matter, because no king, lord, or ruler has asked such a thing of any magician, enchanter, or Chaldean. It is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other who can show it before the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.” - Daniel 2:10-11 (WEB)

What does this reveal about the Chaldeans’

understanding of “gods” ?
