Students will learn language structures in context and start to use them to convey meaning while continuing adding new grammar structures and vocabulary. When a student is absent from class due to illness

Upon his/her return, the student will be allowed one day for each day of absence to make up the assigned work and/or take a quiz/exam.

Previously scheduled assignments that were due on the day of the absence will be due on the day the

student returns to school.

Previously scheduled quizzes/exams will be administered on the day the student returns to school.

○ The student is allowed one (1) day for each day of an absence to make up assignments and

quizzes/exams scheduled during their absence.

○ One (1) day of make-up time is allowed for each day of absence (Example: 2 days absent - 2 days to make

up work; 4 days absent - 4 days to make up work, etc.).

● Note: based on the A/B schedule at the high school level, the term “one day” is equivalent to one class period.

The Honor Code and French Class

In this class, it is an honor code violation to turn in work that is not your own. To clarify what this can look like, I’m listing some examples below:

It’s fine to…

-Use an on-line dictionary like wordreference.com to find a word that you use or a verb that you conjugate

It’s an honor code violation to…

-Use an online translator, like Google Translate, to translate a whole sentence or more, or a conjugated verb

It’s fine to…

-Ask someone for help on a word or a conjugation

It’s an honor code violation to…

-Have someone who speaks French (a tutor, a native speaker friend, parent) tell you what to write. If I see grammar that is beyond what we have learned, I will know it is not your work (unless you yourself are a native speaker). A good rule of thumb: If you can’t tell me what the word means, or how you conjugated it in that form, don’t use it! Stick with what you know.
