Consultations

Prior to consultation, a brief description will be given, enquiries undertaken as to whether the child is in receipt of an EHCP and names of attendees shared

Consultations will usually be attended by the class teacher and a member of SLT but at the very least will include a qualified teacher (e.g. SENCO)

Consultations may vary in length, but will usually be around one hour

Each centre will operate a minimum of five consultations per week

Numbers of consultations per school will not be capped but some schools may need to prioritise to ensure all schools have access to this service

If a school requests more than five consultations a term, then this will be reviewed with school improvement partners to ensure that there is a broad range of Local Authority support offered.

Inreach provision

In a vast majority of cases, inreach provision should not be required and suitable support can be provided through our outreach service to ensure that children are able to access education and make good (or better) levels of progress.

Inreach provision may be required in order to provide a more effective assessment of the child’s needs and provide more precise strategies to support schools in meeting these same needs.

This will only be considered where there is a clear purpose to the placement and usually where it is anticipated that this will result in the child transitioning back into fulltime mainstream provision.

School commitment

A member of school staff must attend for half a day a week or day a fortnight (min). This needs to include the child’s teacher on a half termly basis and a member of SLT at some point during the placement.

In most cases, the pupil must attend their home school for the same number of hours that they attend inreach provision.

During placement, PBS staff will check strategies suggested are being implemented by schools. If these are not being followed, then the placement may be terminated.
