The Emotions Behind the Female Reproductive System

    • I’ve always been interested in medical related topics and this one interests me.
    • Topic idea: How do the hormone levels differ from each other during ovulation, menstruation, and egg fertilization
    • Reading assignments (endocrinology, reproductive system), science research paper and conducting a survey

Snapshot of Survey

How many days before your period do you experience PMS?

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, how angry, sad, or irritated, do you feel during PMS (Pre-Menstrual-Syndrome)?

Do you feel cramps and body pain? If so, on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, how intense do they get?

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, how bad are your cramps, body ache, and bloating while menstruating?

If you’ve been pregnant, in which trimester did you feel these emotions? (Opt.)

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, how painful was your body ache if you had it?

If you have given birth, how intense were these emotions 5 being the most intense?

On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst, how painful were your contractions during childbirth?

    • Jammie is from Denver Colorado
    • Works as a software engineer for Slack.
    • Majored in psychology in college.

My Project

  • My project is a real estate website.
    • Website name: “Metly Real Estate”

    • Inspiration: zillow.com and realtor.com

    • I wanted to create a real estate website because real estate is my favorite field in

business.

    • Took real estate classes and plan on becoming a real estate agent.

    • I wanted to learn how to code because I want to be able to create my own website in the future.

42

My MAGICAL Experience

    • I am glad that I participated in the GetMagic program this summer because I’ve learned a lot that will help me in the future with coding. Not only that but I had something to keep me busy this summer.

    • First when started building my website I focused on how the website should look. I did a lot of CSS coding which is the code for styling the website. The HTML is the structure of the website. Next we started working with JavaScript which is the code that makes the website function properly.

    • Learning how to code was a challenge for me because before I started the GetMagic program I tried to learn coding myself but I still found it difficult to write code for a website. The most tricky part of creating this website was adding houses and its information on the website because I mostly used JavaScript.

My Project

Password Generator

    • What it is: An app that generates new and secure passwords for every account that you have (Gmail, Instagram, etc)
    • I selected this project because my aunt said that she has the same, unsecure password for every account and she told me to code an app
    • Topics and technologies learned
      • Learned how to better use Xcode and the language Swift
      • Researched app security, combinatorics, debugging, randomly generating strings with a for loop, etc
    • How far you got
      • Finished the app
    • Future work
    • I want to make the app nicer looking

My MAGICal Experience

  • A few bullet points about your experience
    • Being able to spend summer doing something that I enjoy, which is coding
    • Working with a mentor who has a lot of knowledge and experience in the field of Computer Science
    • Seeing the finished product!
    • I learned that you can use coding to help others, which is what the app is doing
    • I also learned how much time is required to design, create, and debug an app
    • At times the app did not run, so I would have to a lot of debugging and research
