What is academic advising?

  • Developing your academic goals

There is time to discuss course registration, but academic advising is more than just preparing for registration.

Consider asking questions about study abroad, internships, service learning, and more.

Who is my advisor?

Your advisor is a faculty member on campus. You can look up your advisor in KnightLine or DegreeWorks.

What happens on advisement day?

  • Meet with your academic advisor
  • Discuss
    • Your current classes (be prepared to talk about your grades!)
    • Upcoming semester plans
    • Questions about core, majors, minors or certificates

Appointments

Your advisor will contact you to set up your appointment.

  1. Be on time and prepared for your appointment
  2. Write down your questions and have them ready
  3. Have several class options to review

What is an Academic Plan?

Your academic plan is an outline of the classes you would like to complete while at SNC. It will always include:

  • Core Requirements
  • Major Requirements

But may also include:

  • Minor or Certificate coursework
  • Study Abroad, Internships, or Research

Steps to Register via KnightLine

This video will show you the steps to register for classes via KnightLine.

  1. Log into KnightLine and go to Student Services, then Registration.
  2. Select the term (Spring 2022) and the “Enter CRNs” tab.
  3. Enter the CRNs into the box and select the “Add” button to put them into your enrollment cart.
  4. Remember to “Submit” the courses after adding them to your enrollment cart.

  • Helps you plan for future terms
