God’s Longsuffering

فغم ذلك يونان غما شديدا فاغتاظ. و صلى الى الرب و قال اه يا رب اليس هذا كلامي اذ كنت بعد في ارضي لذلك بادرت الى الهرب الى ترشيش لاني علمت انك اله رؤوف و رحيم بطيء الغضب و كثير الرحمة و نادم على الشر. (يو 4 : 1 – 2)

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You [are] a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. (Jon 4 : 1 – 2)

طول أناة الله قد تغيظ الإنسان

God’s longsuffering might annoy man

لماذا يتأخر في الإجابة؟؟

Why does His answer delays??

لماذا لا ينتقم للمظلومين؟؟

Why doesn’t He avenge for the oppressed??

لماذا يترك الشر يزداد؟؟

Why does He leave evil grows??

طول أناة الله ... مصلحة الإنسان

God’s longsuffering … is a benefit for man

40 سنة ... في البرية

40 years … in wilderness

100 سنة ... من أجل بُناء الفلك

100 years … to build the ark

400 سنة ... من أجل إعداد موسى النبي

400 years … to prepare Moses the prophet

5000 سنة ... في إنتظار المسيا

5000 years ... Waiting for the Messiah

طول أناة الله ... (عهد قديم)

Do not underestimate God’s longsuffering

لذلك انت بلا عذر ايها الانسان كل من يدين لانك في ما تدين غيرك تحكم على نفسك لانك انت الذي تدين تفعل تلك الامور بعينها. و نحن نعلم ان دينونة الله هي حسب الحق على الذين يفعلون مثل هذه.

Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

افتظن هذا ايها الانسان الذي تدين الذين يفعلون مثل هذه و انت تفعلها انك تنجو من دينونة الله. ام تستهين بغنى لطفه و امهاله و طول اناته غير عالم ان لطف الله انما يقتادك الى التوبة.

And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?. Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?.

Do not underestimate God’s longsuffering

و لكنك من اجل قساوتك و قلبك غير التائب تذخر لنفسك غضبا في يوم الغضب و استعلان دينونة الله العادلة. الذي سيجازي كل واحد حسب اعماله. (رو 2 : 1 – 6)

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who "will render to each one according to his deeds“

(Rom 2 : 1 – 6)

لا تستهين بطول أناة الله

و لكن لا يخف عليكم هذا الشيء الواحد ايها الاحباء ان يوما واحدا عند الرب كالف سنة و الف سنة كيوم واحد. لا يتباطا الرب عن وعده كما يحسب قوم التباطؤ لكنه يتانى علينا و هو لا يشاء

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that

ان يهلك اناس بل ان يقبل الجميع الى التوبة. و لكن سياتي كلص في الليل يوم الرب الذي فيه تزول السماوات بضجيج و تنحل العناصر محترقة و تحترق الارض و المصنوعات التي فيها.

that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Do not underestimate God’s longsuffering

فبما ان هذه كلها تنحل اي اناس يجب ان تكونوا انتم في سيرة مقدسة و تقوى. (2بط 3 : 8 – 11)

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness (2Pet 3 : 8 – 11)

فماذا نقول العل عند الله ظلما حاشا. لانه يقول لموسى اني ارحم من ارحم و اتراءف على من اتراءف. فاذا ليس لمن يشاء و لا لمن يسعى بل الله الذي يرحم. لانه يقول الكتاب لفرعون اني لهذا بعينه

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not!. For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion“. So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh,"For this very purpose

اقمتك لكي اظهر فيك قوتي و لكي ينادى باسمي في كل الارض. فاذا هو يرحم من يشاء و يقسي من يشاء. فستقول لي لماذا يلوم بعد لان من يقاوم مشيئته. بل من انت ايها الانسان الذي تجاوب الله

I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth". Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?". But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God?

العل الجبلة تقول لجابلها لماذا صنعتني هكذا. ام ليس للخزاف سلطان على الطين ان يصنع من كتلة واحدة اناء للكرامة و اخر للهوان. فماذا ان كان الله و هو يريد ان يظهر غضبه و يبين قوته احتمل باناة كثيرة

Will the thing formed say to him who formed [it,] "Why have you made me like this?“. Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?. [What] if God, wanting to show [His] wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering

لا تستهين بطول أناة الله

Do not underestimate God’s longsuffering

انية غضب مهياة للهلاك. و لكي يبين غنى مجده على انية رحمة قد سبق فاعدها للمجد. التي ايضا دعانا نحن اياها ليس من اليهود فقط بل من الامم ايضا. (رو 9 : 14 – 24)

the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?(Rom9:14-24)

إحتمل بأناة وتعلم عليها

Bear patiently and learn from it

لا تستهين بطول أناة الله

Do not underestimate God’s longsuffering

الله يطيل أناته رغم علمه بالنتائج

God extends his tolerance although He is aware of the results

الله عادل ... والإنسان يختار تجربته ويظل حراً في حدود عمره

God is fair ... And man chooses his trial and remains free all through his age’s limit

الله يؤكد مشئيته (خلاص الكُل) بإحتمال الأشرار

God emphasizes on His will (salvation of all)

by bearing the wicked

الله يصير مثلً لأولاده ... في طول الأناة والإحتمال

God becomes an example for His children ...

by His longsuffering and tolerance

طول الأناة بنت المحبة

Longsuffering is an outcome of Love

المحبة تتأنى وترفق

Love suffers long and is kind

المحبة تحتمل كل شىء

Love bears all things

المحبة تصدق كل شىء

Love believes all things

طول الأناة بنت المحبة

Longsuffering is an outcome of Love

كأبٍ حقيقي تعبت معي أنا الذي سقط. ربتطني بكل الأدوية المؤدية إلي الحياة. أنت الذي ارسلت لي الأنبياء من أجلي أنا المريض. أعطيتني الناموس عوناً. أنت الذي خدمت لي الخلاص لما خالفت ناموسك. كنورٍ حقيقيٍ أشرقت للضالين وغير العارفين. (من القداس الغريغوري)

As a true father, you have labored with me, I who had fallen. You have bound me with all the remedies that lead to life. You are He who have sent to me the prophets for my sake, I the sick. You have given me the Law as a help. You are He who ministered salvation to me when I disobeyed Your Law. As true light, You have shone upon the lost and the ignorant.

فقال الرب انت شفقت على اليقطينة التي لم تتعب فيها و لا ربيتها التي بنت ليلة كانت و بنت ليلة هلكت. افلا اشفق انا على نينوى المدينة العظيمة التي يوجد فيها اكثر من اثنتي عشرة ربوة من الناس الذين لا يعرفون يمينهم من شمالهم و بهائم كثيرة (يون 4 : 11)

But the LORD said, "You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night. "And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left - and much livestock?"(Jon4:11)

طول الأناة بنت المحبة

Longsuffering is an outcome of Love

لكنني لهذا رحمت ليظهر يسوع المسيح في انا اولا كل اناة مثالا للعتيدين ان يؤمنوا به للحياة الابدية (1تي 1 : 16)

However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life (1Ti 1 : 16)

طول الأناة بنت المحبة

Longsuffering is an outcome of Love

و احسبوا اناة ربنا خلاصا كما كتب اليكم اخونا الحبيب بولس ايضا بحسب الحكمة المعطاة له (2بط 3 : 15)

and consider [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is] salvation -- as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, (2Pe 3 : 15)

Longsuffering is an outcome of Love

Exercises

كلما نظرت شراً أو شريراً ... قول ... ياطول بالك يارب

Whenever you see evil or a wicked person ... Say ... Oh my Lord, You are so patient

كلما تعبت من إنسان ... قول ... أشكرك يارب لأنك تحتملني

Whenever you get tired from a person ... Say ... Thank You God for bearing me

إهرب من الإدانة بالكلام والفكر ... وتذكر:

Escape from condemnation by words

or thoughts ... And remember:

من انت الذي تدين عبد غيرك هو لمولاه يثبت او يسقط و لكنه سيثبت لان الله قادر ان يثبته (رو 14 : 4)

Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand (Rom 14 : 4)
