What is Applied Digital Skills?

Applied Digital Skills is Google’s free, online digital literacy curriculum. With

over 200 hours of lessons, it has lessons for everyone. Instead of teaching digital skills in a vacuum, Applied Digital Skills uses videos to guide learners through creating a project from scratch. This means that students who complete a lesson leave with a useful project such as a resume, a monthly budget, a business plan, and more.

Options for Project Submission

via Applied Digital Skills platform

through Google Classroom

Students can submit work one of 2 ways:

Pros:

  • The submissions are shared with a link to a student project directly from the assignment view in ADS

Cons:

  • No consistency with how project files are named
  • Can’t use Classroom’s feedback tools
  • Won’t have folders of student submissions synced in Drive

Pros:

  • Students can create files via the assignment, will be named accordingly
  • Teacher can use Classroom’s built-in feedback tools
  • Student work synced in Drive in the Classroom folder

Cons:

  • Not helpful if you don’t use Google Classroom ;)
