STEPS IN G.D
1) How to Initiate –
As there is no leader in the group. someone must open the discussion. The initiator must keep in mind following things.
a) Welcoming the participant.
b) Introduction to the subject/ topic of the discussion.
c) Initial / personal statements.
e.g. Hello, ‘my friends ! May I request your kind attention please .
The topic given to us is ………… ‘ women Reservation Bill’.
-Addressing a group,
In my opinion women are not enjoying freedom in the male dominant society.
-Making initial statements

2) How to Elicit opinion:-
The discussion can not go on endlessly you have to give opportunity to others to express their views and offer their suggestions.
Expressions directed to a specific person
1) what do you think of this proposal Mr. Ram?
2)How do you react to this idea Mrs.Joshi?
3) Would you like to give your views on this Mr. John?
4) What is your opinion on this issue.
Expressions directed to a whole group .
Any reaction to that
Has anybody any strong feeling about it?
Any comment on this any suggestion.

Strong Agreement
i) Of course you are right.
ii)Yes that’s a good point.
iii)There cannot be two opinions.
iv) This is quite reasonable.
v) I have no doubt about it.
Partial Agreement
Disagreement:-
e.g. i) I don’t think so…….
ii) I am afraid/troubled this is an extreme point …..
iii) you have missed the point completely.
iv) I am sorry. I don’t agree with you.
3) How to intervene/interfere the Discussion:-
Some times have to snatch/grab an opportunity to say something. You have to be polite but firm
e.g. i) hello , good morning , with your permission I would like to join you ………
ii) If allow me . I would like to add one thing.
iii) May I have your attention , please?
Raising Objections:
1) I think you are being rather unrealistic.
2) Your attitudes is not very useful.
3) I don’t think you are being correct.
4) To sum up/ Conclusion
i) So friend in a nutshell.
ii) Friends, it’s time is up for our discussion . Let me sum up now.
iii) Gentlemen , time is up for discussion at this point.
iv) All right then, Let us conclude our discussion at this point.
The considering opinion must consider all the opinions from the beginning and conclude with win-win kind of conclusion.
