Thank you so much for attending “Meet the Teacher Night”! My name is Mrs. Kim Remp and I am excited to be your child’s 4th grade homeroom teacher! This will be my 28th year teaching; 26 of which were at Brandywine Heights Area School District (7 years in PLS; 10 years in 2nd grade; 3 years in 5th grade; & 6 years in 4th grade) and one year was at Governor Mifflin School District in primary ES. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Millersville University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University.

I currently reside in the Shillington area. I have a 23 year old son named Coby (Shippensburg University alumni) and a 20 year old son named Connor (attending Penn State University Main Camput as Junior). In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, sons, puppy (Sky- 7 yrs. old), family, and friends as well as staying active, traveling, and reading.

INTRODUCTION

During these uncertain times, we will do our best to connect with your child and make him/her feel safe and comfortable in school. There will be challenges along the way; this is new to all of us. We will do our best to provide a quality education, but will be prioritizing the social-emotional well-being of your child in order to create a genuine connection. ☺

There is a general, suggested supply list posted on our Brandywine website. However, please note, not every supply that is suggested is necessary for our classroom. Here is a small list of supplies you’ll need for our classroom for the first day of school (please put the small items in a gallon size baggie with your child's name on it). These include:

  • backpack (not on rollers because of small locker size)
  • 10-12 sharpened No.2 pencils
  • 5-10 glue sticks (we use them a lot and they run out quickly)
  • scissors
  • colored pencils (set of 12)
  • zipper pouch (please no plastic toolbox)
  • set of wired earbuds or headphones in a baggie with your name on it for your laptop (Earbuds or headphones are REALLY important because we do a lot of online activities where everyone works at their own pace)
  • one small pack (of 25) 8.5” X 11” clear sheet protectors for your binder (I will provide the binder), that would be great!!

Please, if you need help with supplies, just let me know. I always have some extras at school.

Agenda Books:

Students will be writing their daily homework assignments in their agenda books (Homework will not be posted on my web page; however, general announcements and reminders will). Parents will be asked to initial that they saw their assignments nightly. Currently we don’t have the agenda books in, however, we will be using a weekly agenda page until they arrive. Here is the link to my Weekly Assignments Remp's Weekly Assignments

Clever:

All websites, resources, apps will be accessed through Clever this year. This allows students to have a “Single Sign On” so there won’t be multiple passwords to be remembered. Your child should access everything through Clever. :)

Sharing Teachers:

Students will switch classrooms; teachers remain in homerooms to get them ready for 5th grade since they switch classes for every subject in 5th grade. Your child will have me for Science and Mrs. Williams for Social Studies throughout the year (about every four weeks we will switch).

Weather permitting, we have recess outside and children are allowed to play on and with equipment this year!:)
