Updates for 2024 Type 1 reports

As this is the final year for this Portfolio, the aim has been to simplify Technical Reporting for 2024 as much as possible while still meeting the requirements of the Technical Reporting Arrangement (TRA).

Two main updates for the 2024 Type 1 template:�

The adaptive management section has been removed as we do not anticipate that Initiatives/Impact Platforms will conduct a meaningful and effective ‘reflect’ adaptive management process for the final year of this Portfolio. Our working assumption is that lessons learnt from the current portfolio and the final year of Initiative and Impact Platform delivery are reflected in the design of the 2025-30 Portfolio.�
Content will include both 2024 results reporting, and summative results reporting for the period 2022-2024*.

The TRA states that each reporting entity is required to submit a 3-year summative Type 1 report at the end of the business cycle, providing a comprehensive overview of the outcomes achieved.
To reduce workload and editorial efforts, while still fulfilling the Technical Reporting requirements, the 2024 Type 1 report and the 3-year summative report have been merged into one process and product.

1	Fact sheet, executive summary, budget information	The Executive summary is to include key achievements and messages for 2022-2024, and any 2024 highlights. Word limit increase to 750 words
2	Progress towards End of Initiative outcomes	Narrative now includes progress towards End of Initiative outcomes made over the past three years and any specific 2024 highlights/notable aspects. Updated TOC design. (An example is provided in the template). Infographic to cover EOIO progress – a 200-word statement per EOIO is required to be provided to populate the infographic. �(An example is provided in the template) Updated from 4 to 6 pages (to allow for the extra EOIO infographic)
3	Work Package progress	Narrative is to include Work Package progress made over the past three years and any specific 2024 highlights/notable aspects. Updated WP TOC design. (An example is provided in the template) Work Package progress rating to take into account cumulative progress. We encourage you to utilize the data reported through the new Outcome Module (more info below) when drafting the content for the Work Package progress rating summary table.

All sections will include both 2024 and summative information for 2022-2024. More details can be found in the guidance notes for each sub-section.

The same principles apply to Impact Platform-specific sections e.g., sections on key function and module progress include both cumulative information and 2024 highlights.

*SGPs

Updates apply to the SGPs RTB and AVISA, who also reported in 2023. �The other SGPs reporting in 2024 will use a separate template.

Some diagrams may present cumulative results, others may break down results for each year. A one/two-sentence caption describing each diagram/graph must be included. (Examples are provided in the template)
5	Partnerships	This section is to provide cumulative information on partnerships for the period 2022-2024 and any specific 2024 highlights/�notable aspects. There is flexibility in the type of graph or diagram included in this section and examples are provided in the template. Word count increased to 750 words.
6	CGIAR Portfolio linkages	This section is to provide cumulative information on partnerships for the period 2022-2024 and any specific 2024 highlights/�notable aspects. There is flexibility in the type of graph or diagram included in this section and examples are provided in the template. Word count increased to 750 words.
7	Adaptive management	The adaptive management section will not be included in the 2024 Type 1 template.
7	Key result story	The key result story can focus on a 2024 result or can be a summative story that includes results from previous years and a 2024 highlight. There is space to provide links to KRS from previous years.

The Outcome Module �Reporting on EOI and WP Outcome Indicator Targets

Opportunity to assess progress against the cumulative targets for WP and EOIO. Facilitate alignment of results and evidence with the indicator targets achieved

Feeds into PRMS Type 1 elements in Sections 2 and 3, offering valuable data to complement the Type 1 report narrative.�Will also feed into Type 2 report.

Consulted Sounding Board �(5 initiatives/ 1 Platform)�Information session in late November.�Available in PRMS in early December.

This will also feed into Type 2 – good source of data to reported upwards

The module will pull data from the Theory of Change (TOC) Boards. 

With support from all reporting entities and coordination from PCU, updates to the TOCs were implemented to guarantee the following:

All outcomes have one or more indicators, each with an indicator type, unit of measurement, baseline, and cumulative targets
Indicators measure only one variable at a time, with compound indicators appropriately broken down
Standard indicator types are selected for each indicator, wherever possible
A consistent unit of measurement is used for each indicator, wherever possible
Each indicator has a quantitative baseline and cumulative target, with no text in the baseline or target fields
Each indicator target set for 2024 reflects the cumulative total for the 2022–2024 Portfolio period

Photos for inclusion in the report can be submitted into the designated Microsoft Teams folder available for Initiative, Platforms and SGPs. For photos, include captions and credits. Use this folder also for any self-created diagrams/graphs for sections 4,5 and 6. �
The Performance & Results (P&R) Hub includes technical reporting guidance, templates, support materials, reporting timeline information, a list of key reporting dates and FAQs related to reporting.�
