  • Stage 5: Chain Test
  • Aim: To check if the difficulties are due to problems with visual perceptions, visual discrimination and visual tracking, or dyslexia can be suspected.
  • The Test consists of two parts:
    • Word Chain
    • Letter Chain
  • Duration: 3 minutes each part
  • Can be used with children (2nd grade and above) and adults; individually or with a small group

  • Stage 6: Fast Naming
  • Aim: To check all three aspects of child’s attention: concentration, sustainability and switching.
  • Four or five easily recognisable pictures, 5-6 in row, in randomly following each other
  • Can be used with children (6+) and adults.

  • Stage 7: Spatial Orientation /Graphic Dictation/
  • Aim: To check attention, ability to follow instructions, spatial orientation, coordination, fine motor skills.
  • The Test consists of two parts:
    • Linear Dictation /3 levels with increasing difficulty/
    • Figure Dictation /2 levels with increasing difficulty/
  • Can be used with children (5+) individually or with a small group

  • Stage 9: Dynamic Test
  • The Test consists of two parts:
    • Learning of a new “alphabet”: three symbols that don’t exist in any alphabet, and they represent the three most often used sounds of the language (in Bulgarian these are “m”, “s” and “a”);
    • Blending two sounds together;
    • Reading non-words written with the three new symbols.
  • Used with young people over 14 years old and adults; individually

  • There are many different methods of assessment
  • No matter which method will be used, all specialists agree that early identification of the problem is of great importance, because earlier the intervention starts better opportunities has the child to overcome his difficulties.
