Dojo Best Practices
Schoolwide Family Communication
Dojo Digest - To minimize frequency of messaging, we’ll continue a weekly digest of “need to knows”. You can preview or review messages here. If you wish to add notes, please email Casillas, McKee & S. Rodriguez by 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Include “Dojo Friday” in subject line.
Family Communication Folder - A shared Google Folder is now available as a depository for all communications going home. You can find important letters, calendars, lunch menus, and Flyer Friday messages.
Schoolwide Family Communication
Social Media - Secondary forms of connecting with our families. Our goal is to provide another communication outlet and an inside-look at Ruby Hill. Please Gchat/email all of your great photos and stories to McKee/Casillas/S Rodriguez.
Staff Communication Norms
Voicemail Best Practices
Always leave a voicemail when calling from a school phone, even if it’s just to say who you are, why you were calling, and that you’ll call back later. Parents often call the front office concerned, because they saw they had a missed call from the school.
Key Components to include:
Posi-Call Voicemail Example
Good afternoon, this message is for the family of Harry Potter! This is Ms. Ruby, calling from Rocky Mountain Prep Ruby Hill.
We wanted to inform you that Harry had an amazing day today!! We are so proud of his progress and excited to see him participate more in class.
If you have any questions please send me a message on Class Dojo.
Thank you!

SLA Meals
ALL families qualify for for free breakfast, snack and lunch thanks to the Healthy School Meals for All Program!
Tracking Meals
Although all meals are FREE, FRL status is a driver for school funding and Title IX designation. SLA, as our vendor, is also paid based on meals served.
Therefore, it is imperative that we continue to properly track and document meals being served to all students.

Snack Breaks
When eating snack please make sure that you are throwing away all food after the students are done.
Often snacks are fruits and can leave a sticky residue on desks if not wiped right after.
SLA Feedback!
Casillas is the campus liaison between SLA and our staff. All feedback should be directed to him (realtime is best!)– but feel free to share glows with the cafeteria staff in real time :)
Recess
Be prepared: If you have recess duty make sure that you bring out a fanny pack with bandaids for any minor scrapes.
Injuries beyond simple scrapes should be referred to the nurse for attention. Please be over-communicative with parents about any safety/injury concerns.
