Volunteer Help!

  • Seeking volunteer to shadow Hospitality in the Spring
  • Creating 2024-25 committee position “Event Hospitality”
    • Covers non-student hospitality
    • Includes 4 single day events
      • Directors’ Hospitality: RCMI, MadTown, WGI
        • POs, shopping, coordinating potluck meals, BJ Band host
      • Band Spring Banquet
        • POs, book venue & caterer, decorate, AV walk-through, BJ Band host

Uniforms

The week after Thanksgiving, students will turn in garment bags with CLEAN Bibs and Jackets, and Shakos in shako boxes. (Look for details soon.) Please complete the following before uniform turn-in.

UNIFORM BIBS AND JACKET CLEANING

  • Unsnap bib hems and jacket cuffs before washing.
  • Treat stains before washing!
    • Soak bibs in water and Oxyclean to remove stains
    • Apply Grandma’s Secret spray (Wal-Mart) and Dawn dish soap, and work into the stain (toothbrush works great for this) to take out tougher stains.
    • As an absolute last resort, soak in OUT White Brite (Wal-Mart) following the directions on the container.
  • Wash in COLD water with NON-chlorine detergent
    • NO BLEACH
    • NO liquid fabric softener
    • DO NOT DRY CLEAN
  • If possible, hang to dry. If not, tumble dry on low or permanent press cycle.
  • If you haven’t already, report any issues with uniform including broken zippers or missing snaps when uniforms are turned in.

SHAKO CLEANING

  • Students should clean out the shako box
  • Unsnap the chin strap and wipe both sides.
  • Baby wipes can be used to wipe down shakos as needed.

SHOE CLEANING

  • Students will keep shoes which can be used next year.
  • Magic eraser sponges work well to clean marching shoes

GARMENT BAG CLEANING

  • Check the garment bag for dirt. Wipe clean as needed.

Sock Fundraiser Details

  • Timing: Kick off Nov. 15, runs till Dec. 6
  • Goal: $5000 for California Disney trip in March 2024. Student goal to sell 10 3-packs of socks.
  • How: Completely online sales, students will enter emails/phone numbers and blasts will be sent with ordering details. Orders will arrive by Christmas.
  • Give Back: For every 3 pack sold, 1 pair will be donated to the North Alabama Foster Closet.
