• Consult is not accurate, even within a project phase
• Actually, many project phases, so that systems engineering effort is relatively constant
• Must keep cost (effort) in mind when looking at schedule
• Jim: If COCOMO can estimate a schedule, shouldn’t COSYSMO be able to do the same.
• Leone
• 2102 (?) paper with Ricardo, looking at project management effort through the life cycle; has implications for systems engineering effort profile
• Eileen
• Consider a project that has just software and systems engineering. If software has schedule issues, that has to also affect systems engineering.

• Jim: Still need to get a nominal schedule to identify schedule compression
• Again, compare COCOMO
• Brad
• Have you considered the Rayleigh curve? (Or Weibull curve?)
• Multiplier of around 2, exponent around 1/3.
• Simple estimate of multiplying effort by some constant doesn’t work
• Leone
• Might want to talk to schedulers (who do program schedules)
