From previous sermon

A blessed life (1) & (2)

3 of 36

3

The 10 commandments

Produce disobedience to God and therefore

punishment from the Law

The beatitudes from Christ

Produce lots of blessings and therefore

happy life and obedience to God effortlessly

4 of 36

4

The 1st and 2nd blessings from Jesus in the beatitudes

Mat 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Will produce a blessed (happy) life so that it will be easy to wholeheartedly glorify God

And also accomplish the Law

“You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Our life in the kingdom of God, with God, will make us happy

5 of 36

5

The 3rd and 4th blessing of the beatitudes

Mat 5:5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.

Mat 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

It is God’s works thru Christ that will do our ministry to others

So that we do not depend on our ability

By doing so, we also accomplish the Law;

“You shall not make for yourself an idol”

Jesus ministers on God’s donkey

The disciples are the saddle

The 3rd of 10 commandments

Exo 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

Men do not know who God is, and

therefore they use the name of God in vain

Therefore they are punished under the Law

8 of 36

8

Exo 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

God wants us to know His name

9 of 36

9

Exo 33:17 The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.”

God knows all the names of the saved ones and write them in the book life

Including Moses name

The question is

did Moses know God’s name?

10 of 36

10

Exo 33:18 Then Moses said, “Please, show me Your glory!”

Moses did not know God’s glory

What is it ?

Is it His power ? His authority ?

Or because He is sinless ?

11 of 36

11

Exo 33:19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.”

God’s revelation

His glory come from His name that bring goodness to people

His name is mercy and grace

In the tabernacle,

God sits on the mercy seat

12

Rom 9:13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” 14 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? Far from it! 15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I have mercy, and I will show compassion to whomever I show compassion.”

17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very reason I raised you up, in order to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the earth.”

God’s mercy and compassion is to ALL

God’s name is the SAME

to Israel, to Pharaoh, and to ALL

Jacob and Esau

14 of 36

14

Rom 9:13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

What was the difference between Jacob and Esau ?

15 of 36

15

Gen 25:29 When Jacob had cooked a stew one day, Esau came in from the field and he was exhausted; 30 and Esau said to Jacob, “Please let me have a mouthful of that red stuff there, for I am exhausted.” Therefore he was called Edom by name. 31 But Jacob said, “First sell me your birthright.”

Birthright came from God

16 of 36

16

Gen 25: 32 Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?” 33 And Jacob said, “First swear to me”; so he swore an oath to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew; and he ate and drank, and got up and went on his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Esau sold and despised what God has given him

Esau sold and despised God’s mercy and compassion to him

1 Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. 5 It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered,

God will not force His mercy and compassion to anybody

God is love

18

Rom 9:13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”

What was the difference between Jacob and Esau ?

      • Esau rejected God’s mercy and compassion
      • Jacob accepted God’s mercy and compassion

The story of Moses - the water at Meribah

20 of 36

20

Num 20:8 “Take the staff; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it shall yield its water. So you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and have the congregation and their livestock drink.”

God has mercy

God wanted to bless Israel with water

All that Moses had to do was just

to declare God’s will

21 of 36

21

Num 20:9 So Moses took the staff from before the Lord, just as He had commanded him; 10 and Moses and Aaron summoned the assembly in front of the rock. And he said to them, “Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” 11 Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their livestock drank.

Moses failed to declare God’s mercy on Israel

22 of 36

22

Moses was doing a ministry based on OWN ability

Moses did not do a ministry based on God’s heart of mercy

23 of 36

23

Num 20:12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Since you did not trust in Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, for that reason you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

Because Moses did not depend on God’s heart of mercy, Moses failed to show God’s holiness in front of Israel

Moses has taken the name of the Lord in vain

24 of 36

24

Num 20:12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Since you did not trust in Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, for that reason you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

Because Moses did not depend on God’s heart of mercy, Moses was under the Law and could not to enter the promised land

Exo 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

25 of 36

25

Num 20:13 Those were called the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel argued with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.

God remained merciful to Israel

Because God is always holy

In the tabernacle, the holy of holies,

contains the mercy seat of God

God’s mercy and holiness cannot be separated

26 of 36

26

Anyone who is willing to receive God’s mercy is holy

A person can become holy, only by receiving God’s mercy

God’s mercy and God’s holiness cannot be separated

27 of 36

27

The 5th blessing of the beatitudes

Mat 5:7

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

28 of 36

28

Mat 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

God gives His heart of mercy to us

    • To make us holy
    • To bless us with His blessings
    • So we can be merciful to others

29 of 36

29

Mat 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

Anyone who are willing to receive God’s heart of mercy,

will experience and see the abundance of God’s mercy

To themselves and from them to others

They will see that God’s name is not vanity

God is mercy

Acts 3:2 And a man who had been unable to walk from birth was being carried, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order for him to beg for charitable gifts from those entering the temple grounds.3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple grounds, he began asking to receive a charitable gift.

The lame was begging for “mercy” from others

31 of 36

31

Acts 3:4 But Peter, along with John, looked at him intently and said, “Look at us!” 5 And he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, I do not have silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!”

Peter possessed God’s herat of mercy

and shared it to the lame

32 of 36

32

Acts 3:7 And grasping him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. 8 And leaping up, he stood and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

God’s mercy was able to bring a new life to the lame

33 of 36

33

The 5th blessing of the beatitudes

Mat 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

Thru God’s heart of mercy in us,

we will experience, see and be able to declare the abundance of God’s mercy in our lives and others

By doing so, we will also accomplish the Law;

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain”

34 of 36

34

God’s heart of mercy and compassion to all

Abundance of mercy and blessings

Able to declare and share God’s mercy to others

And able to accomplish

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain”
