Dear Room 51 Parent/Guardian(s):

I am delighted to be teaching third grade again this year. I look forward to working closely with you and your child. Third graders are inquisitive learners and grow in many exciting ways. I have the highest expectations for your child, and in return, I expect your child to give me his/her best effort. I endeavor to create a warm environment where all students feel encouraged to become confident and independent learners (…luminous learners! ).

While things may continue to look slightly different this year due to changing health protocols, such as masking, hand sanitizing, etc., the importance of building a strong classroom community has not changed. I strive to establish positive parent-teacher-student partnerships and value your thoughts on your child’s development, experiences, and unique qualities. Please fill out the online Parent/Guardian & Student Info form by Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The link to the Google form can be accessed through the class website (see below). If you are unable to complete the form online, please send a note with your student, and I will send home a paper copy instead.

Please also review the Room 51 Expectations and Procedures Handbook online so that you may begin to familiarize yourself with the classroom expectations and procedures. Please sign and return the Handbook contract form by Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The contract form will be sent with your student on the first day of school.

I invite you to attend “Back to School Night” in person/in the classroom on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 5:00-6:00 PM. I will send out more details closer to the date. At that time, I will review the classroom procedures, assignment policy, third grade curriculum, and other expectations for the upcoming school year. That night is for parent information only and is not intended as a time for individual conferences.

Open and honest communication is very important to me; thus I encourage you to contact me with your feedback, questions, and/or concerns throughout the year. You can contact me through different methods: write an email, send a written note with your student, or leave a phone message.

(Please include your student’s name and the topic in the subject line for easy reference.)
