Abstract

  • I wanted to do this project because i thought that it would be fun and also kinda cool to learn the science about how this may cook in the sun.
  • I thought this project would work but since a few delays i couldn't do this at the right time but i think if it cooks directly in the sun on a hot summer day with foil under the hotdog to absorb the heat and put it in the hot dog.
  • It can’t cook in winter but maybe in summer because it is hotter and the sun may be out for longer which will help cook it even more so it can go either way.
  • My results are that it won't cook in winter time but most likely in summer time.
  • I measured by check every 20-30 minutes but on a shady not too sunny day it wasn't cutting it, and even with the sun out it still wasn't cutting it. It was too cold.

Purpose Statement

I want to do this project because i think this would be cool to learn about how things cook naturally and how long it may take. But i think that it would also be really cool to learn the science behind how it cooks, and how many different types of methods it can cook in or which method would cook the best.

I also would want to learn if it could only cook in the sun, or if it could cook in different temperatures or shades of light. i also would like to know how much it would cook in the sun and how many minutes, or hours I may have to leave the hotdogs out in the sun or different places or temperature.

Hypothesis

Based of the tools im working with i think it will cook in the sun. I think this because in a way i think the foil will absorb some of the heat. While the hot dog is sitting on this heat absorbing foil it may start to cook along with the sun heating the hot dog up in itself. Also if the sun is shining directly on it at at least 95 degrees i think that it will cook. And that is my hypothesis:)

Experimental Procedures and

Materials

  • I will take the hot dog out of its pack.
  • I will tear out a piece of foil.
  • I will put the hot dog on the foil.
  • I will take it outside and place it on my deck in the sun.

—------------------------------------------------------------

  • Hot dog
  • Foil
  • A few different and good spots.
  • Sun light and heat

Experimental Results

During the winter a hot dog will not cook in the sun. The hotdog won't cook in the sun in winter because it gets dark earlier and is not as warm. As in the summer it will most likely cook better because the sun out out way longer. It is warmer than winter by a lot but also warmer longer. So in this case the answer can not be fully determined right now

Analysis of Experimental

Results

After i got the experimental results i learned that… a hot dog wont cook in the sun in the winter because the sun is not out for enough time. I also learned that it wasn't hot enough. This will not work in the winter. I learned that if it were to be put out in the summer it might cook better because it is way hotter especially in the daytime, along with the sun being out for longer.

Conclusions

It can’t cook in winter but maybe in summer because it is hotter and the sun may be out for longer which will help cook it even more so it can go either way (if it can’t or can cook). I had to cook this in winter because it got delayed from the original time.
