What do we do in EL Class?

In EL Class, we learn English by:

  • Practicing Academic discussion (speeches, debates, presentations, conversation)
  • Learning and using vocabulary from academic subjects in our writing
  • Connecting our background knowledge and the topics we’re studying
  • Writing for different purposes and audiences
  • Getting help with our classes
  • Playing games, having fun, and taking risks in speaking and writing

How do we measure growth in English?

New students take an English screener to find their level, then all students take a proficiency test in February to see how much they have grown in English.
