MLA Format Presentations

(Yes, you still cite on presentations!)

Suppose You Were Presenting on Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa

You will have some information on your slides that should be your own words, but you may also have facts taken from sources.

Paraphrased, summarized, or directly quoted (even sources only mentioned orally and not present on slides!) - all of these should have citations. Much like papers, presentations should have both in-text citations and a Works Cited slide.

In-text citations include: Author Last Name and the page number the information is found on. See next slide for examples.

Say You Had a Slide for Meaningful Quotes from Fullmetal Alchemist:

  • "Teachings that do not speak of pain have no meaning…because humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return" (Arakawa, 5).

  • Even a paraphrase about the topic should have a citation, as seen here:
    • In Fullmetal Alchemist, Edward Elric asserts that equivalent exchange is the foundation upon which all alchemy rests (Arakawa, 26).
