Frequently Reported Issues

Having issues with your Chromebook device? Please walk through the following steps to see if it is a quick fix!

Common Issue #1

Chromebook won't turn on, but has a flashing red light on the side when it is NOT plugged in

Cause:

Chromebook has gone into a deep sleep mode.

Fix:

Press the power button at the same time as the reload button until the screen boots back up. Make sure to go through the proper shut down process moving forward.

Common Issue #2

Chromebook won't turn on, but power light turns solid red when plugged in

Cause:

The battery has run low.

Fix:

Plug device in and give at least 30 minutes to an hour to boot back up.

Common Issue #3

Chromebook won't turn on, but the power light is red and flashing when it is plugged in

Cause:

It has been too long since the device was fully charged and/or the Chromebook was being used to charge a phone

Fix:

The device will need a minimum of 4 hours on a charger before it will turn back on.

Chromebook is acting “weird” - for ex:

  • pages won’t load
  • track pad has stopped functioning
  • other oddities

I have lost or misplaced my power cord.

See the bookkeeper or our tech support person (Mr. Thompson) for options if you need a new charging cord.

Otherwise, a new power cord can be purchased HERE at your convenience!
