NEED AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE YOUR COUNSELOR?

If you would like to see Ms. Cooper or Mr. Lemuell, please ask to go to the Guidance office. If we are available to see you at the time of your visit, we will make every attempt to meet with you then. If we are involved with something and cannot meet with you at that moment, we will call you down at a later time.

IF you are having a difficult time with something and it’s an emergency, you MUST tell Mrs. Sisson that it’s an emergency and she will try to locate us. We make every possible effort to only call students down during non-academic classes.

WHAT IS CONFIDENTIALITY……

As a counselor, the conversations that we have with students are kept private or confidential. However, there are three ways in which we may need to break that confidentiality;

  • If a student reveals that they have or want to, harm themselves
  • If someone else has harmed them
  • If the student wants to harm someone else

Breaking confidentiality may involve talking to the principal, parents, or an outside agency.

** Safe to Say **

If you come to us and tell us something in confidence about another student, we will make every effort to keep your name private. It is very important to help a friend and TELL if someone could be in trouble.

GRADES

Remember, grades are your responsibility. You should be checking Skyward daily or weekly and seeking out support from your teachers when needed. It is your responsibility to reach out for help, ask questions, and use your voice. If you are not comfortable with doing that, see your counselor!!

Ms. Cooper and Mr. Lemuell run grade checks during mid-marks and report card time. If you have a D and or F’s, we will be having a conversation on why you are struggling and how to improve your grades!

Grades play a big factor in the classes that will be available to you in high school and/or the tech school. We will be scheduling you for high school classes sometime in January/February!

Eligibility!!!

Be sure you are putting forth your best effort and asking for help! Don’t wait till the end of the marking period to get help!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)SELF-AWARENESS

Practicing self-awareness is about learning to better understand why you feel what you feel and why you behave in a particular way. Having this awareness gives you the opportunity to improve or correct things about yourself, enabling you to create a life that you want.

Self-awareness is understanding your feelings, behaviors, motives, goals, and beliefs. There are two types of self-awareness: internal and external self-awareness. Internal self-awareness focuses on your thoughts, feelings, strengths, weaknesses, values, and so on. External self-awareness is being tuned to how other people perceive you.
