What are pre-apprenticeships / Best Practices

  • pre-apprenticeship is entry level training which can provide a pathway into an apprenticeship or the workforce.
  • They are usually offered in the traditional trades industries, such as electrical, plumbing and construction. Non-traditional trades are becoming popular, such as computer coding, auto collision repair, cyber security, cosmetology.
  • It includes a work experience component
  • It leads to the industry or apprenticeship role the student is considering. During the slide presentation you will notice that pre –apprenticeships can link to multiple apprenticeship roles.

Do I need to start a pre-apprenticeship

  • No, However, a pre-apprenticeship can offer excellent exposure and experience.
  • Pre-apprenticeships can assist in improving literacy and numeracy skills. They also focus on developing essential work-related skills. These skills can help individuals be better prepared for work and be a stand-out job candidate.

-At the men's facility has a restaurant called the Roadhouse Grill

- The Ladies facility has a restaurants called the Missing Fork Café can you guess why?

--The menu was designed by the culinary class

-The curriculum recognizes students as having the academic and practical knowledge they need to succeed in the restaurant, food service, and hospitality industries

-If the student passes all 5 of the tests; the student receives The ManageFirst Professional® (MFP) Credential

- The Dining room is for professional staff, doctors, nurses, counselors, deputies, teachers, psychiatrists, accounting, cooks, front office etc.

-The tablecloths and Napkins were created by the sewing dept. We have enough linen for 3 turns.

-They work with equipment that you would see at a convention center or a hotel with convention rooms

-The bakery class produces all the bread items for the inmate meals.

-In addition to supplying all 7 Reentry/Detention facilities with bakery goods including the two restaurants
