Facilitated by Traci Chun, Teacher Librarian at Skyview High School in Vancouver SD

Integrating Tech For Improved Instruction
So what is S.A.M.R.? Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition
Technology Enhances Learning:
Substitution = Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with no functional change
Augmentation = Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with functional improvement.
Technology Transforms Learning:
Modification = Tech allows for significant task redesign.
Redefinition = Tech allows for the creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable.
SAMR Video
Grab a few sticky notes and write 1-3 questions you have about the SAMR model after watching the video.
Inquiry Based Learning:
Independently research SAMR for the next 10 min:
Share your key findings and insights with your tablemates!
SAMR Connection to Classrooms
After viewing sample lessons:
Look at tasks that you could conceivably do in your classroom/library at each of the SAMR levels. Possibly look at ways you could collaborate with classroom teachers and/or departments/grade levels.
You can collaborate with a partner, or work on your own. Be ready to share out some ideas!
