COVERAGE
This policy governs all GDOE employees, volunteers, vendors, visitors and all others within the jurisdiction of GDOE and prohibits harassment, intimidation, bullying, cyber bullying, sexting and sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and fraternization whether on or off duty.

HARASSMENT, INTIMIDATION OR BULLYING
is any gesture or written, verbal, or physical act that a reasonable person under the circumstances should know will have the effect of harming a pupil or employee
CYBERBULLYING
is the use of any electronic communication device to harass, intimidate or bully. Cyberbullying is bullying through the use of a computer or telecommunications device. Cyberbullying, like traditional bullying, involves an imbalance of power, aggression and repetitive negative action.

FRATERNIZATION
GDOE prohibits all employees from pursuing or engaging in affectionate relationships with subordinate employees whom they supervise. No supervisor shall initiate or participate in institutional decisions involving a direct benefit or penalty to a person with whom that individual has or has had an affectionate relationship.

WHAT KINDS OF HARASSMENT ARE COVERED BY THE FEDERAL LAWS AGAINST EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION THAT THE EEOC ENFORCES?
Federal law prohibits workplace harassment that concerns your race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions; sexual orientation; and gender identity), disability, age (40+), or genetic information.
Eff. Aug 1, 2024, Reports of Title IX harassments must be reported to the Title IX Coordinator to be considered as a violation of Title IX.
