STEP 3- TECH SET-UP & FORMAT�AUDIO ONLY VS. STREAMING VIDEO

EQUIPMENT

  • Microphone (samsung Q2U, shureMV7X, audiotechnica)- multiple loaners if you plan on having guests
  • Headphones
  • Adapters for computer

RECORDING PLATFORM

  • Free- Audacity, Garage Band, Zoom, will allow you to record and download MP3 file
  • At a cost- RiversideFM, Streamyard
    • ~ $30 a month

STEP 4��RECORD MULTIPLE EPISODES

  • Plan to launch with ~ 5 ready to go
    • Can release one episode a week or upload them all initially and then plan for your release schedule moving forward
    • 99% of podcasts that launch with fewer than 3 episodes fail
    • Weekly to every other week is a good cadence

STEP 5- EDIT

Make it clean and simple, remove any big mistakes but doesn’t need to sound perfect

Consider building a 10-30s hook with highlights from the episode

Listen and learn from mistakes, ask for feedback from friends and colleagues

STEP 6- PUBLISH AND PROMOTE

  • Create podcast specific social media presence and promote
  • Leverage your institutions public affairs team
  • Consider media appearances highlighting your podcast
  • Share with patients, links on AVS
  • Bring on guests that have an audience of their own and ask them to share

  • Presenting as innovative community outreach approach at Children's Hospital Association conference
  • Including residents as co-hosts during their CHA/advocacy electives
  • Partnering with CBOs, other pediatric experts, families with lived experience as co-hosts.
