How Are Credits earned?

Grading Scale:

A = Excellent (5 credits)

B = Above Average (5 credits)

C = Average (5 credits)

* All A-G courses needs to be passed with a grade of “C” or higher to be eligible.

3 Easy Steps to Becoming a Freshman!

1. Parents MUST sign in to their Parent Portal and Submit the Returning Student Registration

​

• Upload a current (original )utility bill with your parent(s)/guardian’s name addressed to the bill. Documents should be uploaded on the returning registration screen

​

• Register for Course Selections via the Parent/Student portal (2/23-3/4)

1. AHS Counselors will meet with all potential permit students during the elementary site visit (this DOES NOT GUARANTEE approval to enroll at AHS)
2. Permit request is NOW AVAILABLE on our district website.
3. AP of Counseling will review all permit applications
4. A staff member will reach out to inform the family of enrollment approval
5. Course requests will be entered for approved permit students

What is PODER?

PODER is a four year program designed to prepare high school students for a higher education. In PODER students:

• will complete a rigorous college prep path
• enroll in honors & AP courses;
• will take leadership positions at school;
• will become involved in school activities.

Who can apply?

• Eighth grade students who will be a first generation college student.
• Maintain a 2.0 to 3.0 grade point average; and
• Must have the desire to be part of PODER and understand that it is a rigorous college preparatory program.
