lesson 4
plagues of the Egypt
By: BEC/CDO Philippines
I need to avoid being a PHARAOH and hardening my heart to God’s command. Instead, i need to follow God with a soft loving heart.

do you know what a callous is? here are some hints
A miner might have callouses
on his hands from holding from holding a pick handle
A ballerina might get callouses on her toes from where her shoes rub.
A Cowboy might have callouses
on his hands from Constant rubbing of the lasso rope
A callous might start as just a small
red patch of skin. Repeated
rubbing makes the skin tough and
hard, until it no longer has any
feeling when it is touched.
Sometimes we describe a whole
person as being "calloused" that
means they are an unfeeling,
unsympathetic person.
Callous
Hardened lump on the skin
Locust
Grasshopper
Murrain
Infestation of a disease or pest
Plague
Infectious disease of cattle
Reverence
Deep respect
Sacrifice
Giving up something important
We have to be careful that we are not calloused, unfeeling people who can't respond to God's
word. In this lesson we encounter a king who hardened his heart and deliberately refused to
respond to God's command.
That's it. No more straw! Find your own! But, of course, you still have to make the same number of bricks. (Ha, ha, ha!)
Exodus 5:5-11
Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron they were
trying to take people from their brick-laying work. So, to punish them, Pharaoh gave orders to his slave drivers-they were not to supply any more straw to put in the bricks, but they
still had to produce the same number of bricks.
This is what
the Lord says, "Let my
people go so they might
worship in the desert
Who is this Lord?
Why should I obey him?
I don't even know him!
Exodus 5:1-4
Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and
gave him God's message. God wanted
His people to be free from the cruel
Egyptians so they could worship Him.
Pharaoh did not want to lose his free brick-makers
and REFUSED TO LISTEN. After all he was the
most powerful being around, wasn't he?...
Pharaoh had a lot to learn about the true, living
This is what
the Lord says, "Let my
people go so they might
worship in the desert
Exodus 5:12-19
he Israelites scattered, searching.
desperately for straw in the fields. Of
course they couldn't find much! The slave-
drivers whipped the people and demanded the
same number of bricks. But don't worry,
sometimes things get WORSE before they get
better.
Why aren’t you making your brick quota
water turning to blood
THE TEN PLAGUES
frogs
lice
flies
livestock pestilence
unhealable
boils
hail and fire
locust
darkness
killing of firstborn children
Why did God send the plagues? see Exodus 9:16
| To punish the Egyptians for not letting Israel go.
2 To show Pharaoh His power and...
3 so His name might be proclaimed in all the earth
master the memory verse
Psalm119:10
I seek you with all
my heart;
do not let me stray
from your
commands.
The SUN is like the COMMANDS OF GOD (what He is asking us to do).
The BUTTER and CLAY are like PEOPLE'S
HEARTS. Pharaoh's heart was like the CLAY. It responded to God by HARDENING.
Sometimes the NATION OF
ISRAEL made their hearts hard and WOULDN'T LISTEN to God.
We need to keep our HEARTS SOFT like butter and
PAY ATTENTION to God. Where can we find God's commands?
