Abeba Birhane (PhD) is a cognitive scientist researching human behaviour, social systems, and responsible and ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI). Abeba is an interdisciplinary researcher whose research interests sit at the intersection of cognitive science, AI, complex science, and theories of decoloniality.

Alek Tarkowski: Co-Founder and Director of Strategy, Open Future Foundation

Alek Tarkowski is a sociologist, strategist and digital activist, who co-founded the Open Future Foundation, a think tank for the open movement, with Paul Keller in 2020. Alek is also on the Board of Creative Commons, on the Council of Centrum Cyfrowe, and co-founded Communia, the European Association for the Digital Public Domain, and KOED, the Polish coalition for open education.

Anna Bethke: Principal Ethical AI Data Scientist, Salesforce

Anna Bethke focuses on fair, accountable, transparent, & explainable (FATE) AI in Salesforce’s Ethical AI Practice Team, collaborating with product and research teams to create AI responsibly and empower our customers to use it responsibly. They research and implement innovative techniques for assessing and mitigating bias and harm in AI. Anna was formerly the Head of AI for Social Good at Intel and previously worked at Facebook, MIT Lincoln Labs, Argonne National Labs, and Lab41.

Florence Chee: Associate Professor, School of Communication, Loyola University Chicago

Florence Chee is Program Director of the Center for Digital Ethics and Policy (CDEP) at Loyola University Chicago. She is also Founding Director of the Social & Interactive Media Lab Chicago (SIMLab), devoted to the in-depth study of social phenomena at the intersection of society and technology. Since 2020, she has served as an External Consultee to the Freedom Online Coalition’s (FOC) Taskforce on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights (T-FAIR) and is a Key Constituent of the United Nations 3C Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence.
