Happy Labor Day

This coming Monday, as a nation we celebrate Labor Day. Labor Day as we know it is a federal holiday where we recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. Plus we get an extra day off of School!!!

The Catechism of the Catholic Church expounds the importance and dignity of work in a way that reflects his plan for us in His creation.. “In work the person exercises and fulfills in part the potential inscribed in his nature. (CCC 2428) Human work proceeds directly from persons created in the image of God and called to prolong the work of creation by subduing the earth, both with and for one another. Hense work is a duty …Work honors the Creator’s gifts and the talents received from him…. He (man) shows himself to be a disciple of Christ by carrying the cross, daily, in the work he is called to accomplish. Work can be a means of sanctification and a way of animating earthly realities with the Spirit of Christ. (CCC 2427) Pope Francis puts it this way… "Work is fundamental to the dignity of a person. Work, to use an image, 'anoints' us with dignity, fills us with dignity, makes us similar to God, who has worked and still works, who always acts..."

Happy Labor Day!

V=S: Student of the Month

A student from each grade level will be selected for student of the month. The students selected are those who demonstrates outstanding effort in living the Virtue of the Month. Students will be recognized and receive a certificate following the Friday all school Mass. Parents of recipients will be invited to attend Mass and share in the wonderful moment.

School Year Well Under Way

As we enter week 4 of the school year, it is important as we establish the routines at school that we also establish good routines at home. Students should eat healthy, have a reasonable bedtime, a set time to do homework. these good routines will ensure that students perform their best at school. Athletes grades will be checked at the midterm for eligibility. Poor performance will result in not being able to dress for games. Please do your best each day in everything that you do.

Pray for our staff

Let's support our St. Jude teachers and staff and pray for them as they guide and watch over our children! Let’s make sure our teachers and staff will be covered in prayer every day they are in school. With everyone's help, we can make sure this happens. Social Worker Classroom Lessons

Mrs. Howe will begin classroom lessons in September for Kindergarten through 8th grade. Kindergarten will begin creating their feelings book, focusing on a different emotion each month. At the end of the year, they will take their books home. Grades 1-8 will focus on kindness, how to spread kindness, how kindness impacts the brain, benefit of being kind, and the difference between rude, mean, & bullying behavior. Each grade level will have a different lesson on one of these topics.

In October, I will present the diocesan required SAfe Environment lessons to every student in the school, pre-k through grade 8. More information will be provided soon.
