  • Puedes abreviar de la siguiente manera:�
  • Were  +  Not  =  Weren't (SE PRONUNCIA UERENT)
  • Was  +  Not  =  Wasn't (SE PRONUNCIA UASENT)
  • Ten en cuenta que la comilla siempre va entre la n y la t.

  • Cómo puedes ver, si conjugas el verbo con los pronombres Iheshe e it, debes usar was. Pero si lo conjugas con youwe y they, debes usar were. Por ejemplo:

  • Formas del verbo To Be

  • Además de construir frases afirmativas, con el verbo to be puedes formar oraciones negativas o interrogativas.

  • Forma negativa:

En pasado cambiamos el verbo TO BE:

I was not a student.

No era un estudiante.

  • Puede ser más claro con algunos ejemplos:

  • Forma interrogativa: 
  • Para construir una pregunta con el verbo to be, el verbo se debe anteponer al pronombre o sujeto. 
  • Recuerda que en inglés solo se utiliza un signo de interrogación para cerrar la pregunta.

En pasado cambiamos el verbo TO BE:

Were you at home?

¿Estabas en la casa?

  • Es muy simple, pues posee la terminación "-ing". Esta terminación se reconoce en español como los gerundios "-ando"  y "-endo".

  • Para conjugar correctamente un verbo en tiempo pasado continuo, además de conjugar el verbo principal con 
  • "-ing + was y were, qué son el pasado del verbo to be
  • Puedes abreviar el verbo auxiliar con el auxiliar negativo de la siguiente manera:�
  • Were  +  Not  =  Weren't (SE PRONUNCIA UERENT)
  • Was  +  Not  =  Wasn't (SE PRONUNCIA UASONT)

  • Interrogative form / Forma interrogativa
  • Para esta forma es necesario ubicar el verbo auxiliar al inicio de la oración. Este verbo puede ir de forma afirmativa o negativa, según sea el sentido de lo que queremos expresar, por ejemplo:
